Soulful Sojourn A friendly domain helping children & their families overcome behavioral, social & academic concerns.

I’ve seen students make it to AFMC and top colleges, only to realize their heart was never in it.

Parents, the choice made between Class 8 and 10 is the foundation of the next 40 years. Are we choosing based on who they are or who we want them to be?

Tell me in the comments: What is the biggest challenge you're facing while discussing subject choices with your child right now?

Is "Providing" Enough? Why Emotional Safety is a Biological Necessity.

Most parents believe that if we provide food, clothing, and shelter, we’ve done our job.

But have you seen the viral video of baby Punch? He’s the tiny monkey in Japan clinging to a stuffed toy for dear life. He has food. He has shelter. But he is terrified.

Punch is a powerful reminder that emotional safety is not a luxury; it is a survival need. In my almost 30 years of working with children and their families, I’ve seen this gap often. For a child, "softness"—the feeling of being held, heard, and understood—is the actual fuel for their brain development. Without that "Secure Base," a child stays in survival mode. They can’t learn, they can’t focus, and they cannot thrive.

That is exactly what I’m building at Soulful Sojourn. I wanted to create more than just a center for learning. I wanted to build a "soft place" where children and families can stop clinging to survival and start leaning into their potential.

We often forget: if anxiety can echo across generations... so can the healing power of a safe, conscious touch.

Let’s move beyond "providing" and start "connecting."

I’d love to hear your thoughts: How do you create a "secure base" in your home or professional environment? Let’s discuss in the comments. 👇

You are carrying a story you didn't start. 🧬✨

Did you know that fear can actually be a biological legacy? Researchers found that mice trained to fear the scent of cherry blossoms passed that fear down to their children and grandchildren—even though the offspring had never experienced the threat themselves.

This is Transgenerational Epigenetics. In my work as a therapist, I see this daily. We often inherit the unprocessed pain and nervous system patterns of those who came before us. This is why some children feel "hardwired" for anxiety or are hyper-aware of things they’ve never lived through.

But here is the most powerful part:
Just as trauma can be inherited, so can HEALING. ❤️🩹

Science shows that safety, love, and inner work can actually "turn off" those stress genes. When you find your peace, you aren't just helping yourself—you are rewriting the future of your family’s DNA.

You are the Pattern Breaker. 🌿

In this Reel:
✅ The science of the "Cherry Blossom" study.
✅ How inherited pain lives in our nervous systems.
✅ How to be the calm in your child’s storm.

Our society is changing — and so are family structures, lifestyles, and support systems.
With nuclear families becoming the norm and daily life growing increasingly demanding, the way we care for our elderly is naturally evolving too.

I’m grateful to be invited for a Facebook Live on Sunday, 15th February at 7:00 PM, where we’ll be discussing this social transition and the rising relevance of old age homes in today’s world.

Join us live as we reflect on how changing times are reshaping intergenerational living and what this means for families and seniors alike.

I am so excited to share a "behind-the-scenes" look at how Soulful Sojourn is coming to life in Faridabad!

My professional heart has always been with children. After 25 years of working with children, I realized my true mission was deeper—it was in the therapy room, untangling the cognitive and emotional knots that hold brilliant minds back.

Opening this physical Centre is the culmination of that 30-year journey. We are currently in the "messy middle"—hiring our team, choosing the right calming palettes, and ensuring every corner breathes peace.

It’s a leap of faith, and I’m so grateful to have you all on this journey with me. Here is a look at how our dream is taking shape.

Correction vs. Connection

Constant correction can feel like constant rejection to a child. When we spend our day pointing out every mistake—from how they hold a spoon to how they sit—the message they hear isn't "I am learning," it's "I am not good enough."

Over time, this "white noise" of criticism shuts down their curiosity and builds a wall of defensiveness. If the goal is to guide them, we must first ensure they feel seen and accepted for who they are, not just for how well they perform.

The shift: Try the 5:1 rule. For every one correction, offer five moments of genuine connection or appreciation.

A safe brain is a learning brain. Let’s focus on building them up so they have the internal strength to grow, rather than tearing them down in the name of "discipline."

I am so looking forward to this Saturday, having been invited by OneLern to conduct a webinar for teachers on "The Science of Aha!: Tapping into the Young Learner’s Brain."

With nearly 30 years in this field, nothing excites me more than helping educators understand the psychological and neurological roots of learning. When we understand how a child’s brain works, we can teach with more empathy, clarity, and impact.

A big thank you to the team at OneLern for this invitation. I can't wait to connect with teachers from around the nation!

Digital Safety Workshop for Parents – Ryan International School, Faridabad

✔️ Building healthy screen habits
✔️ Encouraging responsible digital behavior
✔️ Navigating social media mindfully
✔️ Creating age-appropriate boundaries with trust and warmth

I am deeply grateful to Ryan International School for their wholehearted welcome, constant support, and for creating such an open space for dialogue. The engagement, curiosity, and sincerity of the parents made the experience truly special.
