The import and distribution of cosmetics are regulated in India by the regulatory body Central Drugs Standards Control Organization department of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. The application shall be made in Form COS 01, permission will be granted in COS-02,
Application fee: The category fee is 1000 USD per Category plus 500 USD per Manufacturing site, Variant fee is 50 USD per variant if applicable.
“Cosmetic means any article intended to be rubbed, poured, sprinkled or sprayed on, or introduced into, or otherwise applied to, the human body or any part thereof for cleansing, beautifying, promoting attractiveness, or altering the appearance, and includes any article intended for use as a component of cosmetic. (Ref. D&C Act 1940 Rules 1945)”
