What do cancer stages actually mean?
Cancer stages explain how far the cancer has spread in the body. They do not automatically predict survival. They help doctors plan the right cancer treatment.
Stage 0 means abnormal cells are present but have not spread.
Stage 1 means the tumor is small and limited to one area.
Stage 2 and Stage 3 may involve a larger tumor or nearby lymph nodes.
Stage 4 means the cancer has spread to distant organs.
Understanding cancer staging helps patients make informed decisions about surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, immunotherapy, or targeted therapy.
If you or a family member has recently been diagnosed, ask your doctor about the cancer stage and treatment options. Early detection and timely cancer diagnosis improve outcomes.
