Happy Janmashtami. It's time to celebrate birthday of lord Krishna and enjoy buttery offerings and sweets.
Kid Krishna and an earthen pot full of butter have been always together.Different interpreters have different stories of association of Krishna and butter.
It is said that in childhood Krishna was fond of butter. One of explanation says that wisdom is the butter of the whole life. When life is churned through a wheel, then out of it comes butter, and wisdom is gained by it. There are lot of spiritual and philosophical stories. Ayurveda has different story of yummy white butter and its health benefits.
According to Charka Sanhita, Sutrasthan 27
सङ्ग्राहि दीपनं हृद्यं नवनीतं नवोद्धृतम्|
ग्रहण्यर्शो विकारघ्नमर्दितारुचि नाशनम् | 230|
Fresh butter is digestive, stimulant and cardio tonic. It is useful in malabsorption syndrome (IBS- irritable bowel syndrome). Piles, facial paralysis and anorexia.
Medicinal Importance of butter according to Ayurveda-
Butter is sweet in taste and natural coolant. It calms vitiated Vata and Pitta dosha (two of the three basic energies). It nourishes the body. It improves taste and digestion.
- Butter is aphrodisiac, Cardio tonic, improves strength and skin complexion.
Digestive system- Ayurveda texts mentioned use of butter in anorexia, diarrhoea, intestinal sprue (malabsorption disease) acidity, Piles (haemorrhoids), IBS (irritable bowel syndrome)
- As an anupaan ( to be taken with medicine to enhance its properties) in different diseases like dry cough, facial paralysis, emaciation, pitta affected skin disease, eye disease , bleeding disorders etc.
As per modern researches- - White butter contains lecithin, a substance that helps in the proper assimilation and metabolism of cholesterol and other fat constituents.
It boosts your immune system- Butter is packed with fat soluble vitamins-
