Causes of Hair fall include

1. Nutritional deficiencies namely iron, zinc, B12, D3 and other micronutrients
2. Rapid weight loss, dieting, improper dietary habits
3. Any acute or chronic illness/ hospitalization/ surgery/ Covid infection
4. Mental stress, Lack of proper sleep
5. Genetic profile, Hormonal changes, Thyroid disorders
6. Post Delivery
7. Certain medications
8. Frequent hair straightening procedures
9. Underlying scalp pathologies like fungal infection, seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis etc
10. Physiological increase in hair fall as the hair completes it's life cycle .

A person can have n number of causes contributing to his/ her hair fall.
Identification of the cause becomes prudent to devise a proper management plan for the patient.

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin condition characterised by well defined, erythematous scaly plaques.
Psoriasis affects 2–4% of males and females. It can start at any age including childhood, with peaks of onset at 15–25 years and 50–60 years. It tends to persist lifelong, fluctuating in extent and severity.
Psoriasis is multifactorial disease with multiple causal factors. It is classified as an immune-mediated inflammatory disease (IMID)

Factors that aggravate psoriasis :

Streptococcal tonsillitis (strep throat) and other infections
Injuries such as cuts, abrasions, sunburn (koebnerised psoriasis)
Sun exposure in 10% (sun exposure is more often beneficial)
Obesity
Smoking
Excessive alcohol
Certain Medications
Stopping oral steroids or strong topical corticosteroids

Other environmental factors such as a stressful event.
Inflammatory arthritis “psoriatic arthritis"
Inflammatory bowel disease
Uveitis
Coeliac disease.
Metabolic syndrome: obesity, hypertension, hyperlipidaemia, gout, cardiovascular disease, Type 2 diabetes.
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease

This Patient was a 55 year old male with extensive psoriasis tending towards erythroderma.
He was initiated on oral immuno modulators along with topicals with good disease control seen within a month of therapy.
