Drop-down surgery with neck dissection done for cancer of tongue in STNM hospital by Department of Head and Neck Surgical Oncology. Patient doing well.

Middle aged impoverished lady from south Sikkim with scalp tumour Squamous cell carcinoma underwent wide local excision+drilling of outer cortex scalp bone and same side neck dissection(i-iv) and reconstruction with rotation flap under GA in STNM Hospital.
These kind of surgeries are done for the first time in Sikkim.
Sharing some of pictures of intraoperative and postoperative surgery.
The lady is doing well and is on follow up.

An elderly lady from south Sikkim, who was carrying this huge thyroid tumor for more than 25years, had no money to go out of state and no proper guardian.
She was diagnosed with Hurtle cell neoplasm of the thyroid.
She got operated, underwent total thyroidectomy surgery, and now she is free of this tumor burden, later HPE also came as Hurtle adenoma.

An interesting case of cancer(SCC)right parotid area, which is quite rare. Operated more than two years back in STNM. Did wide local excision with preservation of facial nerve and same side selective neck dissection( level I – IV) with PMMC Flap reconstruction. The patient is still on follow-up and is cancer-free.

Patient with carcinoma of the thyroid( papillary carcinoma ) operated almost two and half years back in STNM, is free of cancer. She is leading a normal life and comes for regular follow up.

Cancer of the cheek and alveolus are getting operated in STNM Sochakgang. This kind of cancer if diagnosed early, treatment of choice is surgery and cure can be achieved.

A growth or an ulcer on a tongue can be cancer, hence any ulcer or growth for more than 2 weeks, please get it checked by an Oncosurgeon.
This is one type of cancer of the tongue which was operated at STNM hospital in the year 2019. The patient is doing well and is on follow up.
