Diabetes is one of the less known dreaded complications and Diabetic Foot has taken an epidemic form in our society. The painful fact is that a diabetic patient is losing his/her foot due to its septic complications in every 20 seconds. This carries a heavy socio-economic burden on our society. The level of awareness about this disease is very low among all sections of people. Though dreaded, the disease is preventable. Bio-allied sciences also have a great role to play in this regard. About 23.6% of people between the exact ages 30 and 70 years die from NCD(1). The high consumption of Ultra processed food (UPF) is a key reason for India being the diabetic capital of the world, with over 101 million affected (2). A 2023 WHO report showed that India's UPF spending surged from USD 900 million in 2006 to USD 37.9 billion in 2019, with a 13.7% growth in retail sales (2011–2021).
