A very very sad and horrible incident-

This video is from Sikandrabad. A small child was bitten by a poisonous snake which led to his sad demise.

With the onset of monsoons, reptiles especially snakes enter our habitat. Since the rains fill their habitats with water, they crawl to land, ending up biting humans during rainy season. It’s the rural area where such incidences are common but this can happen to anyone of us. We need to take appropriate precautions so that such incidences do not repeat in our lives-

1) DO NOT sleep on floors. Most of the incidents with children are when they are sleeping on floors during rainy season.

2) DO NOT leave your child unattended at any cost

3) If you ever find a snake in your house or nearby areas, and are not sure how to deal contact the experts. Do not try to catch the snake on your own and wait for the experts and professionals to arrive

4) Avoid attempting to catch a snake 🐍 on your own, risking your and others’ life. More importantly, do not use internet to do sone experiment while catching the snake

5) DO NOT try to kill or threaten a snake by any means. Allow it to rest in a place till the team arrives. Once the snake gets threatened, it will start to move, making it difficult for others to cope up. Keep an eye on the snake’s movement

6) ‘Snakes drink milk’ is just a myth and holds no truth. DO NOT try to feed anything. STOP anyone who tries to do so.

7) Try to give maximum possible description of the snake to the experts; so that they can come prepared about what species of snake they are dealing with.

Sharing another case story with you.
This cute child presented few days back with persistent high grade fever, swelling over body for last 2 days and generalised rash over body. Swelling was so severe that the child was unrecognisable. He was having difficulty in eating as he was not able to open his mouth. He couldn’t speak. And all these happened over a period of 2 days. Child also had difficulty in breathing as his lungs were full of fluid. Child was referred to me from Muradnagar from one of my colleagues.
Possibility of MISC (multisystem inflammatory syndrome complex) was kept and appropriate investigations were sent.

His CRP and d dimers levels were sky rocketing. Covid antibody were positive. That confirmed our diagnosis. With appropriate treatment child swelling decreased over next 48 hours. His respiration has come back to normal. He was back to his normal routine activities. He was shifted out of ICU on day 4 of hospitalisation. And over next two days the child recovered completely.

Sharing experience of this cute girl Shreya from Muradnagar who suffered from Abdominal Tuberculosis. Her symptoms were initially misdiagnosed as covid 19 and as a result she wasn’t getting any relief. Later multiple investigations were done and she was diagnosed as a case of TB. She was started on inappropriate Anti tubercular treatment. To add to this she developed drug induced liver injury and her condition became serious before she landed before me in emergency. Then she was admitted and appropriate treatment was started. Her jaundice and liver enzymes slowly came back to normal. Shreya and her parents were counselled regarding the seriousness of the disease and staying compliant with the treatment. And on 18th June she completed her course. And now she is perfectly fine and healthy.
Thanks Shreya for spreading awareness about TB through this small video.
