*Majority of the docs who died of Covid were not compensated/ not eligible for compensation under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package Insurance scheme : RTI Data shows*

As per the reply to my Query under RTI Act 2005

(6) Total compensation disbursed to the relatives of doctors who died of Covid-19 infection during this period by the Government of India & the list of doctors (January 27, 2020 to 30th June 2022 )

As per the transferred application from Deptt .of Health & Family Welfare for point no.6 we reply to the same here as below,
*As on date a total no.of 445(Four hundred and forty five) beneficiaries have been compensated for the doctors who died due to Covid-19 under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package Insurance scheme.Amount disbursed isRs.222.50 crores*(Two hundred and twenty two crores& Fifty lacs only)

*Jayesh Lele, honourary secretary general, IMA, told The Hindu on Wednesday that the organisation had handed over a list of 1,800 doctors, who lost their lives to the pandemic till the third wave, to the Union government*.

“But we have not received any communication on the number of those who died from the government. But they have paid compensation to the relatives of healthcare workers,” he added. Dr. Babu said that a majority of the doctors who died were working in the private sector in hospitals which are not designated or peripheral hospitals in the government sector. It seems there is no social security measures for a majority of them, he said .

Family finally received 1 Crore Rs compensation from Delhi Govt on 29th April.

Dear friends..

Please raise your voice for the family of Dr Jha and many others who sacrificed their life during the pandemic.
It is deeply disheartening to see that the voices which are to be heard loud are not even reaching even a few ears.
Nothing can be compensated for the life of many doctors who gave their life during covid but atleast providing them support and giving them a voice is the least we can do being in this fraternity.

*No matter whatever ideology we have first and foremost we are Doctors , And it is our responsibility to be their voice*.*

Its the least we can do for their greiving families.
