Introducing Family Medicine Early in MBBS

It was an honour for me, to deliver a guest lecture on “Principles of Family Medicine” as part of the MBBS 1st Year Foundation Course at the University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS), New Delhi.

This marks the 5th consecutive year that I have been invited to engage with the new batch of medical students... inspiring them to understand healthcare through the lens of continuity, compassion, and community.

During the lecture it was emphasized that introducing Family Medicine during the formative years of MBBS helps students appreciate the holistic, patient-centered approach that forms the backbone of effective healthcare systems worldwide.

By understanding the role of the Family Doctor early in their medical education, students are encouraged to see beyond diseases to the lives, families, and communities behind every patient.

🌿 Building a generation of doctors who treat people, not just illnesses... that’s the spirit of Family Medicine.
