🗣Hair fall and hair loss are often used interchangeably, but they are not the same. Hair fall is a normal, physiological process where 50–100 hairs shed daily as part of the natural hair cycle. These hairs are usually replaced by new ones, so overall hair density remains stable. Seasonal changes, mild stress, or temporary illness can slightly increase this shedding, but it typically recovers on its own.
🔊In contrast, hair loss occurs when the shedding is excessive or when new hair does not grow back adequately. This leads to visible thinning, widening of the part line, or bald patches. Causes may include hormonal imbalance, nutritional deficiencies, genetics, scalp disorders, or chronic illnesses.
💁Understanding this distinction helps avoid unnecessary panic. Not all shedding requires treatment, but persistent thinning does need evaluation. Early intervention can prevent progression and improve outcomes.
