Liver cirrhosis is the end stage of many chronic liver diseases. major complications including
1.jaundice,
2. internal hemorrhage
3. ascites
4. encephalopathy
Ascites is the most common presentation in 80% of liver cirrhosis patient. and modern science have only option to taping the water from abdomen. Ascites treatment requires hospitalization, can lead to life threatening complications and need liver transplantation and this is the most complicated surgery that has a very low success rate.
In Ayurveda, Ascites can be correlated to Jalodara. The Ayurveda management protocol mainly aims to improve metabolism and stimulate hepatic function. Jalodara management includes nitya virechana, diet, and oral medication. Panchkarma helps to cure ascites by applying lepam and Bandhan to the abdomen.
