*Sterility and Multiple Miscarriage*

No one is more popular than a long-awaited stork!
Of a series of couples who had tried every anti-sterility examination
and technique without conceiving over a period of one to eight years, all
but two had started babies one to six months from the onset of homoeo￾pathic treatment. Of the two not vet successful, the woman in one case
has had regular periods for four months for the first time in her life, and
the husband in the other case shows a s***m count and motility test that
is almost back to normal. Silica was the wife's remedy; a blonde, linear,
boyish woman, deaf from childhood, fanatical housekeeper, weepy and
timid. Even her hearing is 15% better. Of the other couple, the man. a
cheerful redhead, with a too ardent past and a passion for salt, found
Phosphorus his need - three doses during fourteen months.
The most frequent remedies for women unable to conceive, in my
experience, are Natrum Mur., Sulphur and Calc. Carb.. and for men
Pulsatilla and Thuja.
Fatigue, over-absorption in business, thyroid deficiency, marital
maladjustment, lack of vacations, and improper diet are also factors to
be considered. Paramount in importance is the giving of the consti￾tutional remedy to both prospective parents.
Multiple miscarriage is almost synonymous with Syphilinum,
especially if it occurs in families with a history of a gravely physically
handicapped birth, or Down's syndrome or other forms of mental
handicap, or stillbirth. Sepia runs very high. This is not to be confused
with single miscarriages, where the range of remedies is far wider. A
third remedy to be considered is Secale, especially if there is any history
of ergot administration.
Homoeopathy is exceptionally useful in these two distressingly
important conditions.
