Is That Redness in Your Eye Not Going Away? It Could Be Pterygium.
Pterygium is a fleshy, non-cancerous growth that develops on the white part of the eye and may slowly spread over the cornea (black part of the eye). It is commonly caused by long-term exposure to sunlight (UV rays), dust, wind, and dry conditions β especially in people who work outdoors.
Eye drops can reduce redness and irritation, but they cannot remove the growth.
If the pterygium increases in size or affects vision, safe and advanced surgical removal is the only permanent solution.
