Happy Doctors Day!
Doctors Day in India has been celebrated on July 1st since 1991 when I was a mere student preparing for my medical entrance exam. I have been fortunate enough to have been granted the opportunity to save human lives and serve the citizens of my beautiful motherland as a member of the medical community.

Today, the same medical community has graciously granted me a second chance to serve again. On December 26th, 2018, I encountered a life changing event. I, who was always the doctor, became a patient. And let me say without a single doubt in my mind that it was the same medical community of which I was a part of, that nurtured me back to health so I may serve again. The past one and a half years have been quite tough for me and family but my fellow doctors and the support that I have received in this time, has ignited my belief in the medical community again. It is essential that we celebrate this day with utmost enthusiasm and show our support to the warriors who fight fatal diseases every day, especially during this time of need.

I once again wish you, Happy Doctors Day and hope to receive the same love and support that I have received over the years. As I step into my clinic again and look around, I see the doctors who have come before me and the future doctors who will continue to cure the world. Let's celebrate the day as it should be - with joy and gratitude.

Once again, Happy Doctors Day!

- Dr. Ranvijay Dubey, Neurosurgeon.

In the recent times of this pandemic of COVID-19, a common discomfort that has surfaced from the extended use of mobile phones is something known as Text neck or Turtle Neck posture or anterior head syndrome results from excessive watching or texting on hand held devices over a sustained period of time. Flexing the head forward to use a smartphone directly affects the spine. The most common appearance of Text Neck is neck pain, soreness and difficulty in moving the neck when trying to move the neck after long usages, localized pain but sometimes radiation of pain into the shoulders and arms, sub-occipital muscle tightness can lead to tension type headaches.
Text Neck should be kept in mind while using smartphones or other hand held devices:
Avoid excessive usage and take frequent breaks
Avoid prolonged static postures
Avoid high repetitions of movements such as prolonged typing or swiping
Avoid holding large or heavy devices in one hand for long duration
Position the device such that it reduces stresses both on the head/neck and the upper extremities
