Strength of Planets

Generally people uses only natal chart for their astrological consultations. They never use any divisional charts. They predict only on the basis of natal chart only. But in Indian Vedic Astrology with the use of divisional charts anyone can probe further little deeper. In Indian Vedic Astrology an importance of divisional charts is quite significant. One should not ignore these divisional charts, anyone who is doing it seriously. Every divisional chart has its own significance. As the Navamsha chart (D/9) is seen for spouse, the Saptamsha chart (D/7) is seen for children, the Dwadahamsha (D/12) is seen for parents & there are many further for different fields. But the Navamsha chart (D/9) stands apart from all others. It actually shows the strength of a planet.
If a planet is in its exaltation in the natal chart (D/1) and in its debilitation in the Navamsha chart (D/9), then this planet is going to give weaker results. On the other hand if a planet is in its debilitation in the natal chart (D/1) and in its exaltation in the Navamsha chart (D/9), then this planet is going to give good results depending upon the position and its lord ship in the Navamsha chart (D/9).
Any planet gives its effect more certainly according to its position in Navamsha chart (D/9) rather than its position in the natal chart (D/1).

Retrograde Planets
A retrograde planet means planets moving in reverse direction. In retrogression, the planet does not actually move in reverse direction, their movement is always in one direction. Because we look at them from earth, that’s why they appear in retrogression. The apparent motion of a planet backwards in the zodiac is due to the motion of earth in its orbit. The SUN & MOON never becomes retrograde, on the other hand RAHU & KETU, they never become direct, and they are always in retrograde motion. Only five planets move both in reverse and direct motion.

Mercury becomes retrograde three times in a year. Venus becomes retrograde once in one and a half year. Remaining the three outer planets Mars, Jupiter & Saturn becomes retrograde once in a year.
Mercury is the most frequent in reverting himself that’s why it is little difficult to predict about Mercury’s behavior. Mercury is the closest planet to Sun, it cannot move beyond 24 degrees from Sun.
01. Saturn is retrograde for 150 days.
02. Jupiter is retrograde for 120 days.
03. Mars is retrograde for 80 days.
04. Venus is retrograde for 42 days.
05. Mercury is retrograde for 24 days.
