Deeply honored to receive the Forttuna Global Excellence Award 2025- India Edition in the healthcare category, as a VitreoRetina Specialist.

I firmly believe that commitment, compassion, and consistency in patient care are values worth upholding—and perhaps this recognition reflects that belief.

I am extremely grateful to the jury for considering me worthy of this honor.

A heartfelt thank you to the Forttuna Excellence Awards team for this encouraging recognition, and to my family, mentors, and patients for supporting me in my journey.

This acknowledgement is an inspiration for me to keep learning, growing, and serving with sincerity.

What made the moment even more meaningful was receiving the award from Gauranga Das Ji. It felt like a spiritual blessing—an affirmation that service, when done with the right intention, is itself a form of worship.

GRATITUDE!

It was an honour for me to participate as Faculty at the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO-AIOC) meeting, held at Yashobhoomi convention centre at Delhi. The meeting provided a great learning platform, and hosted a large trade exhibition showcasing the latest equipment and technology in ophthalmology, and was attended by around 12000+ ophthalmologists from more than 50 countries.
It was truly heartwarming to be a faculty at DSTC sessions in retina and presenting my research paper in "Rapid Fire Retina Update session" of APAO.
Grateful to be a part of this memorable event.

Detached retina is when the retina lifts away from the back of the eye, leading to marked painless sudden loss of vision, and is a serious problem , which should be fixed at the earliest.
As we old, the vitreous jelly in our eyes, shrinks and gets thinner. Sometimes, during this shrinkage, vitreous may pull the retina hard to tear it. When that happens, fluid can pass through the tear and lift/ detach the retina.
You are more likely to have a detached retina if you are near sighted (high myopia), if you had a serious eye injury, if you had a tear or detachment in the other eye, if you have history of retinal detachment in family, if you have weak areas in the periphery/ sides of your retina.
Flashes (sparkling lights seen during dark), floaters (specks, lines or cobwebs in the field of vision), a shadow appearing in your side vision, a grey curtain covering part of your field of vision , are symptoms of Retina detachment.
Visit your retina specialist if you have risk factors of Retina detachment.
The above patient was treated by me with Vitrectomy surgery ( wherein vitreous is removed and replaced by Silicone Oil ) a week back , and is now happy after recovery of his peripheral and central vision.
He will need a short surgery to remove the oil bubble, after a few months.

Beware of this Scam. The caller identifying himself as a customer care operator at FedEx, would ask you that a parcel with your name, contact number, and even “Aadhar” details, has been seized at customs office, containing illegal documents like passports etc. He/ she (after confirming your details) would tell you that you had sent the parcel from Mumbai to Taiwan, making you wonder, that hell, you have never sent a parcel to your hubby in US (saving your money 😉), then why would you send to Taiwan, not knowing anyone there, obviously making you scared that you are in some deep trouble! And then he would ask you if you need his help, telling that you will soon be contacted by Mumbai’s custom office. In my case, the caller even had an audacity to ask me to visit Mumbai and get things sorted. Trust me, he sounded professional. I being smart 🤨(there’s nothing wrong in believing so 😉), sensed something fishy, and asked him that I would be waiting for the Custom Officer’s call, and hung the phone (more so, because I had patients waiting) Phew !! I prayed that I was safe ! Did not receive any more calls, and later read this article by Swati Thapa, much to my relief! Being a responsible citizen, I shall report the scam! +973 7715954570, folks kindly report this number.
