Life of a Neurosurgeon
Our life is like riding a roller coaster. Some days, you feel on top of the world — after removing a brain tumor in toto, completing a marathon surgery, and finally sitting back with the deep sense of validation that you chose the right path.

And then, just 48 hours later, the same patient deteriorates. The CT scan shows a bleed from the tumor bed. You leave your OPD midway and rush back to the OT to reoperate.

In that moment, all the validation and confidence you had built seem to crumble. You question yourself endlessly — I did meticulous hemostasis… I double-checked everything… why did it still happen?

And yet, you gather yourself, put on a brave face, and walk back into the OT — because that’s what we do.

Amongst all this commotion, when you save a life and see that same patient walk back into your OPD — smiling, recovered, alive — it gives you the courage to keep going.

Because neurosurgery is full of the unexpected.

A patient shifted from Dehradun with intracranial bleed on ventilatory support. when worked up in our hospital had a suboptimal functioning heart with ejection fraction-35%,
Was recently diagnosed for blood cancer( CML) and had blood counts as high as 2Lakh.
He had jaundice and bilirubin was high.
This patient required a multidisciplinary approach for management. Our team of Critical care specialists led by Dr.Neha Pathak, neurosurgeon (Dr.Vikas Bhardwaj), cardiologist, hemato oncologist, gastroenterologist, managed the case and with god’s grace and the trust of his wife we could discharge him in a satisfactory condition.
