A Journey of a 51-year-old Male for Right Hepatectomy with Re-Do HJ!

This case highlights the importance of doing the right thing for every single patient, no matter how routine the surgery may seem. A 51-year-old male underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy in 2018, which unfortunately led to bile duct injury and a diagnosis of type I BBS in 2019.

Despite attempts at ERC and surgical hepaticojejunostomy, postoperative bile leak and stricture HJ developed within 6 months.

Consultation at another major healthcare center led to PTBD with retrievable metallic stents placement in 2019, but unfortunately, the patient has had multiple hospital admissions for cholangitis since 2020.

With exposure to liver surgery, a "Right Hepatectomy with re-do HJ" was performed, despite the patient's anxiety about losing a major portion of his liver. In retrospect, this appears to have been the right decision as a simple HJ would not have served the purpose.

Liver transplant at just 11 months old baby from kenya

Baby Clarence from Kenya got a new lease of life through a liver transplant at just 11 months and 4.8kg under Dr. Giriraj Bora and Dr. Shaym S. Mahansaria at Artemis Hospital Gurugram.
