Myth or Fact?
Myth: Health supply chains in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) are financially sustainable.
Fact: Most public health supply chains in LMICs are still heavily reliant on donor funding. While external support has enabled many critical health programs, the lack of sustainable domestic financing means that improvements are often difficult to maintain over the long term. Without consistent local investment and ownership, system resilience and performance remain vulnerable.
Building strong, self-sustaining health supply chains requires a shift from short-term donor dependency to long-term national commitment and co-financing strategies.
