Did You Know?

In many low-income settings, the availability of essential medicines for children is still shockingly low, well under 50% on average, according to recent global surveys.

This gap in access can have life-threatening consequences, especially for treatable diseases like malaria, pneumonia, and diarrheal infections, major causes of childhood mortality.

Expanding access to essential medicines is not just a supply chain issue. It is a matter of health equity, child survival, and system-wide accountability.

Myth or Fact?
Myth: Drone delivery is not useful in real supply chain challenges.
Fact: Drone technology is already reshaping last-mile delivery in health supply chains.

In Ghana, after medical drone deliveries were launched, remote clinics experienced five fewer days of stockouts for essential medicines over just three months. Meanwhile, Rwanda’s drone network now delivers 75% of the nation’s blood supplies outside the capital—drastically reducing delivery times and saving lives.

These examples prove that high-tech innovations like drones are not futuristic add-ons—they are practical, scalable solutions addressing real gaps in medical supply chains today.

What does it take to make product traceability work in health supply chains?

In the first two weeks of the Peer Learning Certificate: Traceability of Products within the Health Supply Chain, supply chain professionals examined both the risks of weak traceability and the realities of strengthening it in practice.

Week 1 made one thing EXTREMELY clear: traceability is not a technical add-on. When products cannot be reliably tracked, substandard and falsified medicines circulate undetected, recalls are delayed, health budgets are strained, and public trust is weakened. Participants highlighted regulatory gaps, infrastructure constraints, and fragmented oversight as persistent barriers, especially in low-resource settings.

Week 2 discussions moved to responsibility of managing these risks. Professionals explored how governments establish enabling frameworks, how the private sector operationalises serialisation and data integrity, and how donors catalyse pilots and capacity building. A central insight emerged: traceability succeeds only when policy, technology, financing, and enforcement are coordinated across stakeholders.

The program now moves forward with deeper exploration of digital traceability solutions and implementation trade-offs.

What stakeholder gap most affects traceability in your context? Come and be a part of this Peer Learning program.

The Peer Learning Certificate 2 is still open if you want to share your insights with peers from across the globe: https://hive.beeskilled.com/all-groups/the-knowledge-collective/courses/

Our research suggests that managers and leaders in the corporate world are being continuously asked, “How are you using AI to optimize the procurement and logistics operations?”

Here's what nobody is telling health supply chain professionals: In 18 months’ time, the gap won't be between people who use AI and people who don't.

It will be between professionals who strategically deploy AI to work 3x faster and those still manually building logistics trackers or analysis sheets at 11 PM for next day’s meeting.

The difference won’t just be knowledge of tools, it will be strategic AI literacy to aid decision making.

Many AI training teaches what tools are available, what those tools can do, but they don’t teach how to effectively interact with those AI tools to make faster decisions that can protect and accelerate your career value in an AI-accelerated industry.

Because here's the uncomfortable truth: Your years of supply chain experience will become MORE valuable when amplified by AI. Without it? That experience will start losing relevance faster than you think.

Using AI in Health Supply Chain Masterclass isn't another "10 ways to use ChatGPT" course. It's your insurance policy against professional obsolescence.

Did You Know?

Temperature excursions in cold-chain logistics are more than just a technical glitch—they are a multibillion-dollar problem.

Global biopharmaceutical supply chains lose an estimated $20–35 billion annually due to cold-chain failures that compromise vaccine and medicine quality. These losses impact patient outcomes, increase healthcare costs, and erode trust in health systems—especially in low-resource settings.

Maintaining an unbroken cold chain is not just good practice—it is essential to safeguarding lives.

THE QUIET SHIFT IS ALREADY HERE.

AI is not arriving with fanfare. It is quietly changing how health supply chain work gets done; how reports are written, how data is interpreted, and how decisions are supported.

Future-ready professionals are not “tech experts.” They are professionals who know:
• Where AI helps (summaries, patterns, drafting, structuring work)
• Where human judgement stays essential (context, validation, decisions)

Myth or Fact?

Myth: Face-to-face training is always better for health professionals.

Fact: Well-designed e-learning can be just as effective if not more, than traditional classroom-based training. Systematic reviews, including a comprehensive study in the Journal of Medical Internet Research, show that online and blended learning approaches lead to knowledge gains comparable to conventional methods.

With the flexibility to learn at your own pace and the ability to revisit materials anytime, digital learning is proving to be a powerful tool for upskilling busy health professionals especially in low-resource settings.

Our Story

Bee Skilled is the dream to see self-sustaining public health systems in low- and middle-income countries. After decades of pursuits by our founders in Sub-Saharan Africa and South-East Asia, we realized that self-sustainability is only achievable when local talent is competent, confident and equipped with relevant knowledge to solve their own problems. However, the road to achieving this is often long, challenging and unsurprisingly, really expensive.

Our effort is to break these barriers and bring relevant knowledge and skills at your fingertips in the most affordable manner. We aspire to see competent health workforce driving the Universal Health Coverage agenda in their respective countries.
