🎯 How severe can back pain be?

It’s not always “just pain.”
A slipped disc can compress spinal nerves — leading to:
🔹 Neurological weakness
🔹 Foot drop (dragging of the foot while walking)
🔹 Loss of bladder or bowel control in severe cases (Cauda Equina Syndrome)

This isn’t just orthopedic — it’s neurosurgical.

Early MRI and timely intervention can prevent permanent damage.

Don’t ignore the warning signs.

🧠 WORLD HEPATITIS DAY 2025

Most people think hepatitis only affects the liver.

But very few realize —

When the liver starts failing, the brain begins to suffer too.

Through a network called the liver-brain axis, toxins like ammonia start affecting mental clarity, mood, memory, and sleep.

This isn't just internal damage —
It’s a silent neurological crisis.

As a neurosurgeon, I’ve seen how chronic liver conditions often mimic psychiatric illness or memory disorders —
but the root lies deeper.

🩺 This World Hepatitis Day, we must look beyond enzymes and liver scans.

Let’s ask a deeper question:

Is your brain silently paying the price of liver disease?

Neuroscience teaches us about neural networks.
Spirituality teaches us about inner networks.
Lord Shiva symbolizes the perfect harmony between both.

In a world filled with overstimulation, the ability to be still — to be truly conscious — is the highest form of health.
This Sawan Shivratri, may we all tap into the deeper layers of mental peace, emotional regulation, and inner balance.

Wishing you a day of thoughtful reflection and powerful healing.

🧠 Let’s talk about Tractography — the brain’s internal roadmap.
Before brain surgery, one of the biggest challenges is protecting the areas that control how we move, speak, and live.

Imagine your brain as a busy city —
Thousands of nerve tracts work like highways, carrying signals for movement, speech, and memory.

But when a brain tumor grows, it can push, press, or damage these critical pathways.

🎯 This is where Tractography helps.

It’s an advanced MRI technique that maps the exact route of these vital circuits — even when a tumor is nearby.
Think of it like Google Maps for the brain — helping the neurosurgeon find the safest way to reach the tumor without harming important areas.

âś… Removes the tumor with high precision
âś… Protects motor & speech areas
âś… Reduces the risk of long-term damage

🧠 This is not just brain surgery —
It’s precision neurosurgery that preserves your quality of life.

🧠 Why Do We Get Headaches?

Anxiety could be the hidden culprit.

👉 Headaches aren’t always caused by physical strain or dehydration.
In many cases, emotional stress and anxiety can trigger tension-type headaches — dull, constant, and draining.

🔍 How does anxiety cause headaches?

Constant muscle tension (especially neck/shoulders)

Poor sleep due to racing thoughts

Overthinking and emotional burnout

🚨 When to take it seriously?

If your headache: âś… Happens frequently
âś… Gets worse with stress
âś… Comes with poor sleep or mood swings

It’s time to consult a specialist.

đź’‰ Precision Shoulder Pain Relief | Rotator Cuff Syndrome & Injection Treatment

🔹 Why does rotator cuff syndrome happen?
Rotator cuff syndrome occurs when the muscles and tendons around the shoulder joint become weak, inflamed, or injured — often due to overuse, ageing, or trauma. This leads to pain, stiffness, weakness, and restricted shoulder movement, making even simple daily tasks difficult.

🔹 How can it be treated?
âś… Ultrasound-guided pain injections deliver targeted, precise relief by reducing inflammation at the source of pain.
âś… Ensures minimal risk and maximum safety.
âś… Promotes faster recovery and restored function, helping patients regain mobility and comfort.

🧠 ANTI-DRUG-DAY

🤔Addiction is a Brain Disease – Not a Weakness

Is addiction just a bad habit? No — it’s a disorder of the brain.

Whether it’s drugs, alcohol, gaming, or even social media —
addiction is driven by the brain’s dopamine-based reward system,
which compels individuals to repeat behaviors that give temporary pleasure.

🔬 While counseling and medication help many —
neuroscience now offers new hope for severe cases.

🧠 Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) is a breakthrough neurosurgical technique
that targets the brain’s reward centers to reduce cravings and dependency in drug-resistant addiction.

🩺 Dr. Himanshu Champaneri,
Consultant Neurosurgeon (Functional & Epilepsy Surgery),
explains how modern brain science is changing the way we treat addiction.

Let’s break the stigma, understand the science, and support recovery with compassion.

🧠 Understanding Epilepsy & Its Surgical Treatment – By Dr. Himanshu Champaneri

At
The 4th Meeting of the Young Neurosurgeons Forum of the Neurological Society of India

Speaker: Dr. Himanshu Champaneri – Functional and Epilepsy Neurosurgeon

🩺 Presentation Overview:

1. What is Epilepsy?

Epilepsy is a brain disorder where nerve cell activity becomes disturbed.

This causes seizures – which can be jerking movements, loss of awareness, or unusual behavior.

It's a neurological condition, not a mental illness.

👉 Imagine a short circuit in the brain – that’s what a seizure is.

2. What is Drug-Resistant Epilepsy (DRE)?

Most epilepsy patients get relief from medicines.

But 30–40% of patients don’t respond to medicines.
➤ This condition is called Drug-Resistant Epilepsy (DRE).

đź’Š How do you know if it's DRE?

If seizures continue even after trying two proper anti-seizure medications, it’s drug-resistant.

3. Why Surgery is Needed in DRE:

When medicines fail, surgery becomes the best hope.

Surgery doesn’t mean open-brain surgery in all cases – there are many modern, less invasive techniques.

The goal is: Stop seizures OR Reduce their frequency and improve the patient’s life.

🔍 Dr. Himanshu’s Slide: Surgical Treatment Approaches

Dr. Himanshu explained 3 main types of epilepsy surgeries:

âś… 1. Resection / Disconnection

This is the main surgical treatment for DRE.

The part of the brain causing seizures is either:

Removed (resection)

Disconnected from other brain areas

Best for focal epilepsy (where the seizure starts in one area).

âś… 2. Lesioning (Stereotactic Surgery)

If seizure origin is deep inside the brain, where open surgery isn’t safe…

Stereotactic lesioning is used:
➤ A focused beam or electrode burns that area.

Very precise, safe, and less invasive.

âś… 3. Neuromodulation Devices

If surgery isn’t possible, then use implanted devices:

VNS (Vagus Nerve Stimulation)

DBS (Deep Brain Stimulation)

RNS (Responsive Neurostimulation)

These devices send controlled signals to the brain to prevent seizures.

🎯 Main Message Dr. Himanshu Delivered:

> "Epilepsy is curable in many cases – especially Drug-Resistant ones – with proper surgical evaluation and modern techniques."

📣 Why This is Important for Social Media:

This isn’t just a conference update – it’s an awareness message:

Many epilepsy patients don’t know surgery can help.

People fear brain surgery, but modern methods are safe & effective.

Parents of kids with epilepsy, or adults with uncontrolled seizures, should know they have hope beyond medicines.
