🇮🇳 This Day — Let’s also fight for freedom from unnecessary antibiotics! 💊🚫💡 UTI Fact:A positive urine culture ≠ always an infection. In people >65 years or with diabetes, no symptoms = no treatment (unless pregnant or before certain procedures like TURP).⚠️ Many times, it’s colonisation or contamination — not infection.Symptoms to treat: 🔥 burning urine | ❗ urgency | ⏱ frequency | 🤒 fever | 😖 back pain.✅ Correct diagnosis = Better health + Less resistance.🩺 Consult an Infectious Diseases Specialist for the right care.

A colleague consulted me for his father’s UTI.
Turns out, it wasn’t just a UTI — his father had recently developed shingles, leading to transverse myelitis, paralysis of both legs, and a neurogenic bladder.
One of the most dreaded complications I’ve ever seen.
Shingles is preventable. The vaccine is available.

🩸 How Blood Cultures Save Lives & Cut Costs
🔬 You can’t treat what you don’t know – and you won’t know without cultures.

🚨 Sepsis affects 49 million people globally every year.
Every minute of delay in diagnosis = higher mortality, longer hospital stay, and increased costs.

💡 Maximize the power of blood cultures – 7 Life-Saving Tips:
1️⃣ Culture smart – think clinically, not routinely
2️⃣ Draw before starting antibiotics
3️⃣ Use adequate blood volume for better yield
4️⃣ Follow strict aseptic technique (yes, this one’s 🔥 important!)
5️⃣ Create awareness across all clinical teams
6️⃣ Stay in close contact with the lab – it’s teamwork
7️⃣ Use results to guide targeted therapy & reduce misuse of antibiotics

✅ Save lives
✅ Reduce hospital stays
✅ Lower costs
✅ Smarter antibiotic use

🧠 Let’s build a culture that respects the power of cultures.
