💫A Trip down memory lane…
It’s wild and honestly emotional, to see just how far we’ve come. As a woman and a dermatologist, watching the evolution of skincare and the societal narrative around beauty in India has been eye-opening.

There was a time when skincare wasn’t really about skin, it was about getting fairer. That was the goal, the standard, the obsession. Entire generations grew up believing that lighter skin equaled success, love, worth. And let’s be honest, some of those vintage ads? Deeply offensive. (Looking at that Aishwarya Rai and Mahima Chaudhary one🥵how was that ever okay?)

But things are changing. Today, skincare is no longer just about what looks good, it’s about what works. Today’s skincare goes beyond DIYs and ghar ke nuskhe. It’s evidence-based, ingredient-focused, and grounded in real science. People are asking questions, reading ingredient lists, understanding what niacinamide, ceramides, peptides, and AHAs do. The conversation has shifted from “how to become fair” to “how to support my skin barrier.” We’re finally talking about inflammation, pigmentation, hydration & not just whitening.

And as for society? We still have a long way to go. But the conversations are changing. We’re seeing more representation. We’re calling out the bias. We’re raising daughters (and sons) to know that beauty is diverse, evolving, and most importantly not their only worth.
