Starting my day with Steamed Indori style poha, with raw veggies and roasted peanuts, made of Jowar flakes eaten in a Bronze/ Kansa plate.

Due to COVID-19 pandemic we have been forced to be indoors.
We all are aware about the importance of maintaining hygiene, social distancing, washing hands, wearing masks etc.
We surely need to be careful but we also need to take care of our physical and mental wellbeing.
We must try to be physically active, go into the sun and promote kids playing outdoors.
Being sedentary has ill effects on mental health, physical wellbeing and reduced immunity.
Let's try to be healthy, active and fit while following the precautions and balancing life along with it.

WHAT IS PAIN?

Pain is an uncomfortable feeling that can be steady, throbbing, stabbing, aching, pinching, or described in many other ways.
WHAT ARE THE TYPES OF PAIN?

a)Mechanical Pain - Pain that increases and decreases with movements ,e.g. joint pain, neck and back pain
b) Chemical Pain- pain that remains constant with the movements .e.g. Pain due to trauma, pain from internal organs
Here i am talking about Mechanical pain , which we physiotherapists mainly work on.

IS IT BAD TO HAVE PAIN?

Though its an obnoxious feeling, its the first sign to tell you there is something wrong in your body and you need to address that issue.

DOES TAKING PAINKILLERS/MODALITIES(HOTPACKS,IFT,TENS) HELPS TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE?
NO, It just masks your pain by blocking the pain receptors of your body, though the ailment remains in your body. Usually modalities and painkillers have a short acting periods, and once the effect goes away, you are back to square one. When your pain is masked, you go into the ranges of movements which are bad for you ,intern worsening your condition.

WHAT SHOULD BE THE IDEAL COURSE OF ACTION ?

Ideally if the pain is not debilitating, it should be used as a tool to understand cause of pain and working on it. Mechanical pain tells you things like,
a)which posture is bad for you?
b)what movements you should avoid?
c)also helps you to heal yourself

In the advance physiotherapy, movements of the body are used to heal itself. Until the pain is unbearable you should try to use the advance physioterapy techniques like Mckenzie, Neurodynamics, Kinetic Control, Strengthening exercises to work on the cause and heal yourself.

BE AWARE,BE INTELLIGENT,KNOW YOUR BODY, HEAL YOURSELF

Hello everyone.. today I am here to help people who are suffering from neck pain and low back pain during this lockdown period.. Recently I came across many working professionals who are having issues while working from home.I am not able to see many patient at this hour, but I will try to give you few tips which should help you to reduce your aches..
1)Make sure you make your working station on table and chair and not on bed, thiscwill help you to be in a better posture,
2) While working for long hours on laptop's/computers try to take frequent breaks (every 30 to 45 mins),
3) In the break walk around a little, stretch your hands, neck and low back,
4) Keep the font size in your laptop big, so that you dont go into forward head posture,
5)Your eye level should coincide with the top of your screen. Use books/bed tables/laptop tables to increase the height of the screen,
5)Keep a cushion/ towel roll at the low back arch, above the hips,to support yourself while sitting on a chair(this will also help you to reduce strain from your neck as it keeps your spine upright)
6)Try to use an external keyboard while working on laptops (if its available) It helps to keep your hands in relaxed position,
7) Make sure your foot is flat on the floor while you are sitting on chair, to prevent slouching,
8)Keep drinking lots of water and talking to your loved ones, to reduce anxiety and stress during this difficult time,
9) Do some exercise/ physical activity (yoga/aerobic exercise), this keeps your mood better,
10)Remember 'This too shall Pass' make the most of this hour with your loved once at home..😊😊
You can ask me questions by commenting on the post.. will try my best to help you as much as possible..
TAKE CARE..STAY SAFE..STAY HOME
