Deepti Madam was surely an angel for me. I had struggled a lot with latching and feeding my baby for the past 3 months. After a lot of pain and guilt, surrounded by many myths/advice, I decided to approach Deepti Madam. She was so empathetic and patient. She practically taught the technique of breastfeeding and I realised all my problem was lying with the technique and not that there was an issue with me or my child. It was the smoothest latching hour with my baby in the past 3 months. Only I wish, I should have come earlier to her. I had taken the help of my gynec and paediatrician earlier, but there is always the best specialist for every task and here is Deepti Madam for lactation consultation .. my sincere thanks to Deepti Madam for the follow-ups, motivation and love in our lactation journey. Welcoming all new parents with love!

๐Ÿฅฃ โ€œMy baby is refusing solidsโ€ฆ am I doing something wrong?โ€

First of all โ€” take a deep breath, mama. ๐Ÿ’›

Food rejection is very common during a babyโ€™s solids journey.

If your baby is refusing food completely, it could simply mean theyโ€™re:
๐Ÿค’ Feeling unwell
๐Ÿฆท Teething
๐Ÿ˜ด Tired or overstimulated

Sometimes, they just need a little break before trying again. ๐ŸŒธ

If your baby refuses certain foods โ€” especially vegetables or textured foods โ€” donโ€™t panic. Babies often need repeated exposure before accepting new tastes and textures. ๐Ÿ‘ถโœจ

Try to:
๐Ÿฅ• Offer a variety of flavours and textures
๐Ÿ  Mix foods creatively
๐Ÿฅฃ Avoid serving the exact same texture every time
โณ Reintroduce foods patiently without pressure

Another important factor? Hunger cues. ๐Ÿ’ก
If your little one is having too much milk or frequent snacks throughout the day, they may simply not feel hungry enough for solids.

Remember:
โœ”๏ธ Feeding is a learning process
โœ”๏ธ Fussiness is normal
โœ”๏ธ Patience builds healthy eating habits

Your baby is not โ€œbad at eatingโ€ โ€” they are learning. ๐Ÿ’•

Emotional readiness is one of the most overlooked parts of preparing for a baby, especially for working parents ๐Ÿค

Most couples prepare for pregnancy medically and financially. Very few prepare mentally and emotionally for how deeply life, identity, routines, relationships, and work responsibilities will change after a child arrives.

And that lack of preparation often creates fear.
Fear of career disruption.
Fear of losing balance.
Fear of exhaustion.
Fear of โ€œHow will we manage everything?โ€ ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

Parenthood does not demand perfection. It requires emotional preparedness, realistic expectations, and the right support systems.

When parents emotionally prepare during pregnancy, they enter birth and postpartum with greater steadiness and flexibility โœจ

They understand that recovery takes time.
They expect emotional highs and lows.
They become more comfortable asking for help.
They stop measuring themselves against unrealistic standards.
And they adapt better when things do not go exactly as planned.
Emotional readiness also changes how parents return to work ๐Ÿ’ผ๐Ÿ‘ถ

Instead of carrying constant guilt and pressure, they begin creating healthier boundaries, stronger communication, and more realistic expectations for themselves.

One of the biggest mistakes working parents make is underestimating recovery and overestimating how quickly they must โ€œbounce back.โ€

Birth changes the body, mind, emotions, sleep patterns, relationships, and daily structure. Healing deserves patience, compassion, and support ๐Ÿค

This is exactly why I created Shubh Aagman ๐ŸŒธ

A program designed to help expecting parents prepare emotionally, mentally, and practically for pregnancy, birth, postpartum, breastfeeding, and the early transition into parenthood.

๐Ÿฅฃ When exactly should I start solids? One of the most common questions new parents ask.

The answer is simpler than you think. ๐Ÿ’›

At around 6 months of age, babies begin needing additional nutrients like iron and zinc that milk alone may no longer fully provide. This is also the perfect stage to introduce your little one to new tastes, textures, and food experiences. ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿฅ‘๐Ÿฅฃ

While some babies may show signs of readiness slightly earlier, itโ€™s important not to begin before 5 months of age. ๐Ÿšซ

Look for signs like:
๐Ÿ‘ถ Sitting with support
๐Ÿ‘€ Showing interest in food
๐Ÿคฒ Trying to grab food from your plate
๐Ÿ˜‹ Reduced tongue-thrust reflex

Starting solids is not just about feeding โ€” itโ€™s an important developmental milestone for your babyโ€™s growth and relationship with food. ๐ŸŒธ

Feeling confused about how, when, and what to start first? ๐Ÿ’•

๐Ÿคฑ โ€œWhy am I MORE hungry after delivery than during pregnancy?โ€ - Feeling guilty?

If youโ€™ve been feeling constantly hungry while breastfeeding, youโ€™re not alone โ€” and no, nothing is wrong with you. ๐Ÿ’›

Breastfeeding burns nearly 400โ€“500 extra calories every single day as your body works around the clock to produce milk for your baby. ๐Ÿผโœจ

Hormones like prolactin and oxytocin are actively supporting lactation, which means your body naturally asks for more fuel, more hydration, and more nourishment.

This intense hunger is not weakness.

Itโ€™s your body doing incredible biological work. ๐ŸŒธ

Instead of restricting food intake, focus on balanced, nutrient-rich meals that keep your energy stable and support milk production:

๐Ÿฅš Protein-rich foods
๐Ÿฅฃ Complex carbohydrates
๐Ÿฅ‘ Healthy fats
๐Ÿฅœ Nuts & seeds
๐Ÿ“ Fruits & vegetables
๐Ÿฅ› Yogurt, oats, eggs, avocados & nourishing snacks
๐Ÿšซ Avoid dieting during this phase, as it may impact your recovery and milk supply.
๐Ÿ’ง Stay hydrated
๐Ÿ˜ด Prioritize rest whenever possible
๐Ÿ’• Nourish yourself with the same care you give your baby

Your body is healing, feeding, and sustaining another human being โ€” that deserves support, not guilt.

Iron deficiency during pregnancy can be alleviated by incorporating foods that naturally increase iron levels.

Prioritize foods like :

Animal-Based (Heme Iron - Best Absorbed)
Plant-Based (Non-Heme Iron)
Fortified cereals, Foods & Snacks

Tips to Maximize Iron Absorption
Pair with Vitamin C
Avoid drinking tea, coffee, or consuming high-calcium dairy products at the same time as iron-rich meals, as they can block absorption.
Cooking food in cast-iron skillets can boost the iron content of your food.

๐Ÿคฑ Experiencing your infant's rejection of the breast in preference for bottle feeding can evoke profound emotional distress, including feelings of personal failure and concern over disrupted bonding and milk supply. ๐Ÿ’”

This condition, termed bottle preference or ni**le confusion, occurs because bottles provide faster milk flow with minimal effort compared to breastfeeding, yet it is reversible through structured, evidence-based strategies. โœจ

๐Ÿšซ Cease any coercive feeding attempts to prevent aversion; instead, prioritize skin-to-skin contact ๐Ÿค to promote oxytocin release and instinctive rooting behaviors. Present the breast during periods of infant calmness or drowsiness ๐Ÿ˜ด, avoiding times of distress or intense hunger.

๐ŸŒฑ Recognize that breastfeeding represents a learned skill for newborns, often necessitating patient reconditioning.

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€โš•๏ธ With consistent application and professional oversight, the majority of infants successfully resume exclusive breastfeeding. Engage a certified lactation consultant for a comprehensive evaluation and tailored interventions to optimize outcomes and restore confidence in your lactation journey.
๐Ÿ’› Persistence is paramount โ€” your proactive approach will cultivate a sustainable nursing relationship.

Many couples step into the journey of pregnancy carrying invisible questions:

โ€œHow will we manage our careers after the baby arrives?โ€
โ€œWhat if we are not ready?โ€
โ€œWhat will pregnancy and birth really look like?โ€
โ€œHow will our relationship change?โ€

And often, they search for answers only after they feel overwhelmed.

The reality is, most fear around pregnancy, birth, and parenting is not because people are incapable. It is because they are underprepared and unsupported.

Fear grows in the absence of information.
Clarity grows when preparation begins.

According to global maternal health studies, emotional preparedness and support systems significantly reduce stress and anxiety during pregnancy and early parenting. When couples receive the right guidance, they feel more confident in decision-making, more connected as partners, and more prepared for the transition into parenthood.

Preparing for a baby should not feel like stepping into darkness.
It should feel like stepping into a new phase of life with awareness, confidence, and support.

A baby should never feel like the end of personal dreams or professional growth.
With the right planning, support systems, and mindset, couples can build thriving careers and nurturing families together.

This is exactly why pre-pregnancy and pregnancy education matters.

When information increases:
โœ” Fear reduces
โœ” Confidence increases
โœ” Couples communicate better
โœ” Birth experiences improve
โœ” Parenting becomes more intentional

Having a baby should feel like a joyful welcome, not a fearful adjustment.
And preparation changes everything.

If you are planning for a baby, expecting, or navigating early parenthood and want guidance that helps you feel informed, calm, and prepared, letโ€™s connect. ๐Ÿ’›

In our flagship program - Shubh Aagman, the holistic baby birth preparation program, we prepare both mother and father for their calm parenting journey filled with growth and bliss.

Please DM - Shubh Aagman to know more about it.

I truly believe breastfeeding is not just the motherโ€™s responsibility โ€” it is the responsibility of the entire family ecosystem.

A new mother is going through one of the most physically and emotionally demanding phases of her life, and in that moment, the role of family becomes extremely important.

When a mother receives love, understanding, reassurance, and practical support from her family, it gives her strength and confidence. When she is constantly questioned, corrected, compared, or made to feel inadequate, self-doubt slowly starts taking over.

We often focus only on the babyโ€™s wellbeing, but rarely ask:
Is the mother feeling emotionally safe?
Is she being encouraged?
Is she being heard without judgment?
Is she being supported without constant advice and criticism?

Because the emotional environment around a mother directly impacts how she feels about herself and her journey. Support makes her feel, โ€œI can do this.โ€ Doubt makes her feel, โ€œMaybe I canโ€™t.โ€

One of the most powerful lessons shared by my mentor has stayed with me forever:

That line beautifully captures how deeply connected a motherโ€™s emotional well-being is with breastfeeding and recovery. Sometimes, the greatest support a family can offer is not instructions, but empathy, patience, encouragement, and simply standing beside her with kindness.

I was sharing my thoughts on the question, โ€œWhat role does family play in breastfeeding and a motherโ€™s recovery?โ€ while speaking as a panelist at the Times Internet and Preganews event.

Grateful to .internet , TheTimesGroup, and for creating a platform to discuss conversations that truly matter for mothers and families.

When I was asked this question at the Times Future of Maternity Summit 2026โ€ฆ

My answer was simple, yet often overlooked:

Breastfeeding doesnโ€™t fail.
The system around the mother does.

Most mothers donโ€™t struggle because they donโ€™t knowโ€ฆ
They struggle because they are not prepared and not supported.

From incorrect latch leading to pain,
From an incorrect latch leading to pain,
to the emotional overwhelm that quietly builds,

These are not failures of the mother.
These are gaps in guidance, in timely support, in care systems.

When a mother receives early, consistent, and compassionate support,
breastfeeding can transform into what itโ€™s meant to be,
a joyful, bonding experience, not a stressful one.

And when we talk about rest?

True rest comes when caregiving is shared, supported, and understood, not carried alone.

Grateful to , The Times Group, and Pregatips for creating a platform that brings such critical conversations to the forefront.
