Old Gurugram, once a symbol of progress and prosperity, now stands as a testament to the neglect and inefficiency of our current administration. Despite numerous agitations, appeals to government officials, and rightful reporting of issues, the residents of Old Gurugram continue to suffer from a lack of basic necessities such as electricity, water, cleanliness, hygiene, and women’s security.
The situation has become so dire that several FIRs have been registered against common people who dare to raise their voices for these fundamental needs. This is not just a failure of governance; it is an outright suppression of the democratic rights of the citizens.
Water Crisis: A Persistent Nightmare
The water shortage in Gurugram has reached alarming levels. Residents are forced to rely heavily on private water tankers due to the inadequate supply from the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA). The GMDA has acknowledged the issue but has stated that a permanent solution will take at least a year1. This delay is unacceptable, especially when the demand for water far exceeds the supply infrastructure2.
Electricity Woes: A Daily Struggle
Frequent power cuts and erratic electricity supply have become a part of daily life in Old Gurugram. The lack of reliable power not only disrupts daily activities but also hampers economic growth and development.
