Feeling dizzy… but your scans are normal?
It might not be your ears—it could be your neck.

Cervicogenic Dizziness is a type of imbalance caused by dysfunction in the upper cervical spine (C0–C3).
When the joints are stiff or neck muscles are tight or weak, they can send faulty signals to your brain—creating a mismatch between what your eyes see and what your body feels.
This sensory conflict leads to dizziness, disorientation, and even headaches.

Common signs:
• Neck pain or stiffness
• Dizziness that worsens with head movement
• Occipital headaches
• Reduced neck range of motion

Good news?
With the right assessment, manual therapy, and sensorimotor retraining—you can restore balance, safely and naturally.

Don’t ignore your neck. Restore your control.

We Fought. We Endured. We Won.

After years of debate and resistance, Physiotherapists in India now rightfully and legally use the prefix “Dr.” before their names, with the proud suffix (P.T.) to reflect our identity.

This victory is not just about a title.
It’s about recognition.
It’s about respect for the years of rigorous education, clinical training, and our vital role in health care — diagnosing, evaluating, and treating pain, disability, and dysfunction without prescribing drugs.

Let’s make it loud and clear:
We are Doctors of Physical Therapy.
We are primary care practitioners in our domain.
We are not technicians. We are movement specialists. Thank you to the Indian Association of Physiotherapists (IAP) and every voice that stood tall for the profession.

This is a win for all of us. Let’s wear it with pride.

Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI): Don’t Ignore the Warning Signs!

Are you experiencing constant pain or discomfort in your hands, wrists, shoulders, or neck—especially after long hours of typing, using your phone, or sitting at a desk?
You might be dealing with RSI – Repetitive Strain Injury.

What is RSI?

RSI refers to a group of conditions caused by repeated movements, overuse, or sustained poor posture. It affects muscles, tendons, nerves, and joints—commonly in the upper limbs and spine.

Common Causes:
1. Repeating the same movements (typing, texting, lifting)
2. Poor posture at work or while using gadgets
3. Long working hours without breaks
4. Awkward or forceful movements
5. Stress and muscle tension
6. Lack of sleep and recovery
7. Poor ergonomics at the workstation

Stages of RSI:

Stage 1: Mild discomfort or tightness during activity, goes away with rest
Stage 2: Frequent pain, stiffness, and swelling that lingers
Stage 3: Constant pain, weakness, sleep disturbance
Stage 4: Severe pain, numbness, loss of strength, interference with daily tasks

Signs & Symptoms:
• Dull or sharp pain in arms, hands, shoulders, or neck
• Tingling or numbness
• Muscle fatigue or weakness
• Swelling or inflammation
• Difficulty with fine motor tasks (gripping, lifting, typing)
• Pain that worsens with activity and may persist at rest

How Can Physiotherapy Help?

Physiotherapy is one of the most effective and non-invasive ways to treat RSI:

✓ Myotherapy & Myofascial Release – Loosens tight muscles and fascia
✓ Trigger Point Therapy – Targets painful muscle knots
✓ Postural Correction & Awareness – Prevents future strain
✓ Stretching & Strengthening – Restores balance and endurance
✓ Ergonomic Training – Teaches proper desk and hand setups
✓ Manual Therapy & Electrotherapy – To reduce inflammation and pain

RSI can be managed and reversed with early intervention!
If you or someone you know has symptoms of RSI, don’t wait for it to become chronic. Physiotherapy offers lasting relief and long-term prevention.

C-Section & Low Back Pain: What You Need to Know ???

Many women experience lower back pain after a Caesarean section, but few realise the true reasons behind it. Let’s explore why it happens, its symptoms, and how physiotherapy can help.

🔹 Why Does a C-Section Lead to Low Back Pain?

A C-section is a major abdominal surgery that affects multiple layers of muscles, fascia, and nerves. The key reasons for post-C-section back pain include:

✅ Core Weakness – The Re**us Abdominis (your six-pack muscle) is cut during surgery, leading to poor spinal support and excessive strain on the lower back.

✅ Scar Adhesions & Fascial Tightness – The Transversalis Fascia and Peritoneum can form scar adhesions, restricting mobility and pulling on the lower back and pelvis.

✅ Postural Changes – Pregnancy alters spinal alignment, and post-C-section, slouched posture, breastfeeding positions, and prolonged sitting can worsen back pain.

✅ Altered Breathing Patterns – The diaphragm is closely linked to core function. Shallow breathing after surgery can increase tension in the lower back.

✅ Pelvic Floor Dysfunction – Even with a C-section, pregnancy puts pressure on the pelvic floor, leading to imbalances that contribute to low back pain.

🔹 Signs & Symptoms of Post-C-Section Low Back Pain

❗ Persistent lower back pain when sitting or standing for long periods
❗ Tightness around the scar area, with discomfort radiating to the hips or pelvis
❗ Difficulty engaging core muscles, leading to a weak, unsupported spine
❗ Pain when bending, lifting, or carrying the baby
❗ Increased back stiffness in the morning or after prolonged inactivity

🔹 How Can Physiotherapy Help?

🩺 Physiotherapy is essential for restoring core strength, improving mobility, and preventing chronic pain. A structured approach includes:

✅ Scar Tissue Mobilisation – Techniques like gentle massage and myofascial release help break down adhesions and restore tissue flexibility.

✅ Core Activation Exercises – Training the deep core muscles (Transversus Abdominis, Multifidus) helps stabilise the spine and reduce strain.

✅ Pelvic & Postural Re-Education – Addressing pelvic imbalances and posture correction improves spinal alignment and prevents compensation patterns.

✅ Breathing Exercises – Diaphragmatic breathing helps reactivate the core and reduce lower back tension.

✅ Manual Therapy & Osteopathy – Hands-on techniques improve mobility, release fascial restrictions, and restore spinal movement.

🔹 Don’t Ignore Your Back Pain!

If you’re struggling with low back pain after a C-section, early intervention is key to avoiding long-term complications. A personalised physiotherapy plan can help you recover safely and regain strength.

MYTH - Any pain and difficulty in moving the shoulder is thought as frozen shoulder and patients believe with time it become normal as it is a self limited pathology. TRUTH - Every painful and stiff shoulder need not be a frozen shoulder. A rotator cuff tear may behave the same way, while timely diagnosis and intervention is mandatory to prevent permanent damage.
