Honoured to be invited as a faculty by Forum of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists , South Delhi.
Gave a talk on Anaemia in pregnancy. Anaemia in pregnancy is one of the most common health problems in India. It occurs when the haemoglobin (Hb) level falls below normal, reducing the blood’s ability to carry oxygen to both mother and baby.
Untreated anaemia increases the risk of Preterm labour, Low birth weight, Postpartum haemorrhage and maternal morbidity.
Routine haemoglobin screening in each trimester and timely iron supplementation are key preventive measures.
Oral iron remains first-line therapy. Intravenous iron is indicated in moderate to severe anaemia, intolerance to oral therapy, or late gestation with suboptimal response.
Optimising maternal haemoglobin improves both maternal and neonatal outcomes.
