Polyps are an important cause of bleeding in stool. These are small tumors, some of which can become cancerous in the long run. If detected early, they can be removed by a small endoscopic procedure. This was a 70-year-old male with bleeding in stool, neglected for around a year, found to have this polyp just at the a**l verge, safely removed completely.

Some days in medicine remind you why you chose this profession.

This was one of those days.

An HIV-positive patient with chronic pancreatitis was having severe pain and jaundice due to obstruction of both bile duct and pancreatic duct — a difficult clinical scenario that required a ERCP for both systems.

Technically demanding. High-risk. Every step needed precision and caution.

As I stood in the endoscopy suite wearing PPE kit, it reminded me of the COVID days — when every procedure carried an added layer of uncertainty, caution, and responsibility.

Slowly, step by step, the ducts were cannulated… stents placed… drainage achieved.

And finally — the best part of the procedure — seeing the patient comfortable and relieved.

Moments like this make all the challenging days worth it.

🛑Two Nights. Two Toddlers. Two Sharp Objects. One Preventable Danger‼️

Last night, I stood in the endoscopy room at 1 AM…
holding a sharp metallic object removed from a toddler’s intestines!

The night before?
Another child.
Another sharp object.
Another terrified set of parents.
Both children were playing.
Both incidents happened within seconds.
Both were completely preventable.

As a gastroenterologist, I remove coins🪙, pins 🧷🪡, batteries, screws, toy parts, magnets,jewelleries and what not…..
But when the object is sharp, every minute matters.

I WILL SOON BE POSTING AN AWARENESS VIDEO ON FOREIGN BODIES INGESTION IN CHILDREN.
