Posterior urethral valves (PUV) are a congenital condition in male newborns where obstructive membranes in the urethra block urine flow. Symptoms can range from difficulty urinating to being undiagnosed prenatally. Treatment involves surgery to remove the valve, but long-term management of potential kidney and bladder issues is often necessary.

Laser posterior urethral valve (PUV) treatment employs lasers such as Holmium or Thulium to accurately vaporize or incise obstructive urethral valve tissue in male infants. This approach provides a safe, effective, and minimally invasive option with lower risks of thermal injury and stricture compared to traditional methods. It enables early intervention even in premature infants and may help in avoiding prolonged catheterization.
