Established in 2008, North East Cancer Hospital & Research Institute has emerged as the most comprehensive and leading cancer hospital in North East India. Its therapeutic and diagnostic facilities, according to several eminent experts are comparable with national level hospitals. These experts as well the dignitaries belonging to various professions and field of activities have expressed the unanimous view that there is no need for patients of the state to go to metropolitan towns for the treatment of the disease as facilities for its complete treatment are available in this institute in excellent form. The state government has also acknowledged this fact. The patients and their family members have also expressed full satisfaction.
The foundation stone of the Institute was laid by Honorable chief minister of Assam Shri Tarun Gogoi, the then health minister of Assam Dr Bhumidhar Barman and the then minister of education and urban health of Assam shri Hemprakash Narayan on 21st sept 2004 and it was started functioning from September 2007. The Institute was finally inaugurated by the chief minister himself along with health minister of Assam Shri Himanta Biswa Sharma on 19th august 2008.
All the facilities are available under one roof in a neat and nice building situated on the famous Amrigog hills of Jorabat, GS road, Guwahati-23 with beautiful natural surroundings
