🔍 Field Insight | Dignity, Health and Rights Behind Bars

As part of the ongoing initiative by UNODC and the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, Assam, a comprehensive field survey was conducted today at Nagaon Central Jail with inmates and jail staff, including custodial and medical personnel.

The visit aimed to capture ground-level realities, identify service gaps, and understand the needs within custodial settings. Insights gathered will support the development of inclusive, rights-based health and legal aid services for correctional institutions across Assam.

Awareness Program – Building Hope Through Dialogue

International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking – 26 June 2025

The Awareness Program held at the Mini Auditorium, IIT Guwahati was a moving and meaningful gathering of policymakers, professionals, students, and change agents, organised by Recovery Wellness Society in collaboration with SJ&E Assam and IIT Guwahati.

The program was graced by the presence of:

• Sri Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, IPS (Retd), Information Commissioner of Assam (Chief Guest)
• Shri Pallav Gopal Jha, IAS, Commissioner, SJ&E, Assam
• Sri Bhaskar Manta, ACS, Director, SJ&E, Assam
• Prof. Devendra Jalihal, Director, IIT Guwahati
• Ms. Priyanka Bhattacharjee, Clinical Psychologist & Resource Person

Through powerful addresses, a stirring awareness video, and community dialogue, we strengthened the collective resolve to break the stigma around addiction and empower those in recovery.

🚴‍♂️ Cycle Rally for a Drug-Free Assam

International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking – 26 June 2025

Recovery Wellness Society, in collaboration with Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, Assam and IIT Guwahati, successfully conducted a vibrant and energetic Cycle Rally for a Drug-Free Assam starting from the IIT Guwahati campus.

Flagged off by Prof. Devendra Jalihal, Director, IIT Guwahati and Sri Bhaskar Manta, ACS, Director, SJ&E, the rally witnessed overwhelming participation from students, volunteers, and supporters.

We were also honoured by the enthusiastic presence of our celebrity guests:

Breaking the Chains: A Step Toward a Drug Free Punjab

The Recovery Wellness Society is honored to have contributed to the successful conduction of the awareness session “Breaking the Chains: Understanding and Combating Substance Abuse in Punjab”, held on 2nd May 2025 at Chitkara University.

Our Founder & Project Head, Mr. Anupam Rohit, served as the resource person, engaging students and faculty in a powerful dialogue around drug de-addiction, mental health, and breaking the stigma associated with substance use.

We extend our sincere thanks to the National Service Scheme (NSS) and School of Psychology and Counselling, Chitkara University, for hosting this impactful event and for their commitment to change.

Together, we move forward — building awareness, encouraging compassion and championing recovery.
