The L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad campus, is hiring young, smart, talented and enthusiastic optometrists for the following positions. The remuneration for the candidate will be based on the well-established career grid for Optometrists at the institute. Optometrist for clinical research: The optometrist will be lead person coordinating all clinical activities of patients involved in various clinical trials engaged by the institute. The optometrist will be responsible for clinical data collection, maintaining good clinical practice (GCP) protocols set-up for the clinical trial, coordination with the clinical research coordinators for patient recruitment and data collection, documentation of results and reporting the findings to the concerned PI of the clinical trial. The optometrist will also be engaged occasionally in teaching optometry students various topics of their expertise. They will also be attending all classes related to Optometry and Ophthalmology as a part of their role as a clinical research optometrist.
Optometrist at the Centre for Innovation: The Centre for Innovation is a recently established entity at the L V Prasad Eye Institute focused on developing innovative technology for management of various aspects of eye care. The Centre is involved in the development of some cutting-edge technology that is poised to bring about a paradigm shift in the way eye examinations are performed and how eye care is delivered to the masses. This center is seeking to hire optometrists for actively working with engineers, designers and other eye care professionals to clinically evaluate the new technology being developed and provide feedback to the R & D team for further development, be involved with clinician ideation, functions as reading center investigators, participate in telemedicine and other clinical trials.
Both positions advertised above offer a great opportunity for an optometrist who is interested in working with a multi-disciplinary team and develop skills/knowledge in areas of research and development that is NOT normally delivered in an optometry training program.
