I am confident that this will give you a glimpse of the world class infrastructure and the sprawling campus of the institute spread over 14 acres on the futuristic Airport Road of Gwalior. It is a pleasure to join the team of the ‘Institute of Hotel Management, Gwalior’. IHM, Gwalior is one of the leading institutions dedicated to hospitality education in our country. Having started operations in 1986 as a Food Craft institute, it was upgraded to a full -fledged Institute of Hotel Management in 1992 by the Government. Since then it has been maintaining very high standards of academic performance and professional conduct. The institute offers craft courses in Food Production, Food and Beverage Service and Housekeeping besides the flagship B. The college has been at the forefront in conducting the capacity building programs of the government titled ‘Hunar Se Rojgar’ and CHT programs from time to time. The alumni of the institute is well placed in the industry and is bringing laurels to all of us associated with this esteemed institution. I solicit all the support from the alumni to make this the top institution in the country and beyond. The students , staff , faculty and administration of the institute has committed to focus on better placement of graduates in the coming days. We plan to achieve this by:
Increasing the interaction with the hospitality sector in general and hotels , companies in particular. providing better learning opportunities to the students in and even out of the classrooms. We aspire to make our students more proactive in their approach towards life and wish to instill a sense of empathy in them to become excellent hospitality managers. Having the background of the hotel industry, I feel that there is a lot of collaboration which is required between the industry and educational institutions in order to ensure a world class contemporary service to every visitor in India along with the traditional warmth of Indian hospitality epitomized in the adage ‘Atithi devo bhava’.
