NCLEX-RN Examination Overview
The NCLEX-RN is a standardized test for nursing licensure in the US and Canada. Here's the lowdown:
- *Purpose:* Ensure safe and effective nursing practice.
- *Eligibility:* Graduates of accredited ADN or BSN programs.
- *Format:* Computer Adaptive Test (CAT).
- *Questions:* 85-150 (minimum 60, maximum 265).
- *Time:* Up to 6 hours (includes breaks).
- *Content:*
- Safe and Effective Care Environment.
- Health Promotion and Maintenance.
- Psychosocial Integrity.
- Physiological Integrity.
- *Question Types:* Multiple choice, SATA, drag-and-drop, etc.
- *Passing:* Adaptive scoring – no fixed passing score.

Application Process
1. Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
2. Apply for licensure through state nursing board.
3. Register with Pearson VUE, pay exam fee (~$200).
4. Get Authorization to Test (ATT).
5. Schedule exam at Pearson VUE center.

Career After Passing
- Work as an RN in hospitals, clinics, etc.
- Specialize (ICU, pediatrics).
- Leadership roles or advanced degrees (MSN, NP).
