Under the guidance of *Principal, GMC Handwara, Prof. Dr. Khursheed Ahmad Wani,* and *Medical Superintendent, Associated Hospital GMC Handwara, Dr. Aijaz Ahmad Bhat* Department of Psychiatry GMC Handwara organized the third batch of training on *Grassroot Intervention and Community Training on the Rehabilitation Module under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, J&K,* today on 10th February 2026.
The training programme was formally inaugurated by the Guest of Honour, Medical Superintendent, Associated Hospital GMC Handwara, *Dr. Aijaz Ahmad Bhat*, who emphasized the importance of community-based approaches in substance use prevention and rehabilitation.
*Prof. Dr. Khursheed Ahmad Wani, Principal GMC Handwara,* interacted with the participants and highlighted the core issues related to substance abuse, community involvement, and the collective responsibility of educational and healthcare institutions in achieving the goals of a drug-free society.
*Dr. Azhar Masoodi, Head of the Department of Psychiatry,* highlighted the critical need for structured training programmes for teachers, underscoring their pivotal role in early identification, prevention, and rehabilitation at the grassroots level.
*Dr. Rauf, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychiatry,* served as the trainer for today’s programme and conducted interactive sessions focusing on practical aspects of community intervention and rehabilitation strategies.
