MOVE OVER, FREUD.
Psychology didn’t stop with dream analysis and ci**rs.

Meet the Johari Window, a visual model created in 1955 by Joseph Luft and Harry Ingham. (Jo + Hari = Johari đź‘€)

It broke “self-awareness” into four parts:
🔹 What you & others know about you
🔹 What others see but you don’t
🔹 What you hide
🔹 What’s still unknown

This added to Carl Rogers’ idea of collaborative therapy, one where the therapist isn’t the “expert” but a mirror helping you explore your blind spots and strengths.

Therapy became less about fixing, more about co-discovering.

“Why didn’t I just say something?”
“Why couldn’t I move?”
If you’ve ever asked yourself this after a stressful moment, you may have experienced the freeze response—a primal, biological reaction to perceived danger.

📌 This post explains:
✅ Why freeze happens (when fight or flight isn’t an option)
âś… How it shows up in your body
✅ And science-backed ways to gently “unfreeze” over time

This is more common than we think—and totally valid. Your body was trying to protect you.

👇 Tell us—have you ever experienced a freeze response? What helped? Let’s build a space where stories are met with support.

We asked our friends what they think psychotherapy is and found that some believe it's getting advice, while others say it's a place for venting.

This made us wonder: Is there a universal definition of psychotherapy?

We believe what psychotherapy is should be explained as a response to what it isn't. Consider a concept like justice: what is it? More importantly, how does one enforce justice? It's often enforced by determining what justice shouldn't allow. Similarly, a machine learning model learns what a cat is by going through thousands of images of things that are not a cat.

Can psychotherapy be understood by what it is not?

Maybe it's time we tried.

We created this analogy to explain. FOR SCIENCE!

The new phenomena amidst worldwide loneliness- is ghosting.
Time and again, people come in for therapy with the experience of ghosting- and shame around being ghosted.
Ghosting has a similar effect on the mind and body as trauma does- self esteem, self worth, self image get shaken up by this unimaginably painful event.
We are living in a world marked by emotional loneliness and if someone shows the courage to come through it and reach out- they are often met with this dreadful possibility.
We are left wondering what we did or said wrong, we start to question ourselves and looking into the mirror metaphorically becomes difficult. Like most traumas we want to escape this situation by blocking it. However it impairs the very fabric of relationships- trust.
A lot of us might have faced this- or are facing it. Shame makes it even harder to talk about it.

Find a safe space. Let it out. There is nothing shameful about being ghosted. It doesn't mean that we are unworthy of attention, love and care.

1 person in 4 will be impacted by some form of Mental Illness according to a WHO report. This report came out before the pandemic hit. The numbers are assumed to have gone significantly higher.

Mental Illness starts with very small things. The inability to cope with life stressors which we initially try and brush off. However much like the dirt which is pushed under the carpet, the stress doesn't go away and piles up. Then one day we wake up feeling like a lot needs to be sorted which only adds to the stress.

This World Mental Health Day let's commit to ourselves to recognize when we have started to sweep dirt under the carpet. Let's start dealing with issues head on instead of turning our heads away from it, hoping that the problem will resolve itself on it's own.

Being able to recognize that we are suffering requires courage. It requires honesty and commitment to becoming better. Let's involve our trusted ones in the process of becoming better. And while doing all of this if you find yourself caught up in thoughts the entire day or living a life compromised by pain, reach out to a Mental Health Professional.

This World Mental Health Day let's acknowledge that Mental Health is equally important as physical health. Like your body requires nutrition, your mind requires healthy attention and the capacity to deal with the contents of it.

Wishing one and all a very Happy Mental Health Day.
Remember, there is no shame in asking for help!
