SRIAAS: SR Institute of Advanced Ayurvedic Sciences is the brainchild of Dr. Puru Dhawan and Dr. Pragati Gupta. It aims to provide Ayurvedic treatment for renal diseases across the globe. Formerly known as Sai Sanjivani, SRIAAS has evolved with more experience and expertise over the span of 11 years. Hakim Dharam Dev Dhawan, the man behind the introduction of medicinal practice in the Dhawan clan, came to India in the year 1947 after the India-Pakistan division. A journey of medicinal practice began to promote Ayurveda for the healthy functioning of the human body. Late Hakim Dharam Dev Dhawan’s self-prepared formulas were transferred among the generations of the Dhawan dynasty as their supreme legacy. Later Dr. Arjun Dev Dhawan continued the healthcare practice with the same goal of providing the best of Ayurveda. In the year 1970, Dr. Arjun Dev Dhawan aimed to provide healthcare services with the best quality services in Delhi. The journey began and people came to know about the qualitative values. Taking ahead the legacy, Dr. Suresh Dev Dhawan expanded the reach of Ayurvedic treatment all over India. Imbibing his forefathers’ qualities, Dr. Puru Dhawan, the kidney specialist, began his medicinal practice with renal failure treatment in Ayurveda in the year 2010. The aim that was limited to just Indian grounds had taken flight and reached the global levels. Today, more than 42000 kidney patients have found satisfaction in Ayurveda and live independently without dialysis.

Meet Shrinivas Maharana, a 66-year-old kidney patient.
His kidney problem started in 2011, when his creatinine level was 1.45. Over time, it increased to 15.60 mg/dL. After starting treatment at Sai Sanjivani, his creatinine level reduced to 12 within just one month.

His progress is a reminder that hope and treatment go hand in hand.

Why does creatinine suddenly rise in winter even when kidneys are stable?

When temperatures fall the body reacts with shivering muscle stiffness and cold sensitivity. These reactions can push creatinine higher even without kidney damage. Cold weather, flu, fever, and poor diet weaken the body further and increase the chances of sudden creatinine spikes. In this video, Dr. Puru Dhawan will explain how winter temperature La Niña, fever, flu, and muscle reactions affect creatinine levels and what precautions kidney patients should take.

Watch the video till the end and consult your doctor for personalized guidance.

Are you unknowingly damaging your kidneys with protein?

Kidney patients must balance protein carefully. Too little protein can cause weakness and swelling, while excess increases creatinine and urea levels. Choosing plant-based proteins and maintaining 0.5–0.8 g/kg per day helps keep kidney stress low.

Lack of sleep can silently damage kidneys faster than you think.

When a CKD patient sleeps only a few hours, the body loses its natural healing time. Slowly appetite drops, BP rises, digestion weakens and creatinine increases. Broken sleep from frequent urination, diabetes or prostate issues can trigger bigger problems. Good sleep is not just rest; it is a treatment tool for kidney patients.

Proper night-time sleep protects energy, repairs tissues and supports kidney function. In this video, Dr. Puru Dhawan explains how disturbed sleep affects kidney health, why it increases complications, and how to manage sleep issues naturally.

Confused about how much water to drink with weak kidneys?

Too much water can cause swelling, too little leads to dehydration. Listen to your body, sip water slowly when your lips or throat feel dry.

Take care of your health and stay hydrated!

Coconut Water Can Be Dangerous for Kidney Patients!

Most people believe coconut water is a “healthy drink,” but for kidney patients, it can silently become harmful. Coconut water is very high in potassium, and when kidneys are not working properly, the body cannot flush potassium out.

This excess potassium starts accumulating in the blood, and when the level goes up, it can disturb electrical signals in the body, leading to irregular heartbeat and even heart complications.
