🧠 Mental Health – A Growing Concern

Did you know? Almost 14% of the world’s population is living with some form of mental disorder — and the youth are at the highest risk.

📊 Key Insights:
• 28% of people fall into the negative mental health category.
• Adolescents & young adults (15–29 yrs) show the highest vulnerability.
• Women are more affected by anxiety, depression, and eating disorders, while men show higher rates of OCD, autism spectrum, and ADHD.
• Nearly 2 out of 3 mental illnesses are linked to stress and depression.

⚠️ The challenge: In adolescence, mental health problems have tripled in recent years. If left unaddressed, they deeply impact education, relationships, and overall life satisfaction.

✅ The way forward:
• Open conversations about mental health.
• Early screening and timely help.
• Prioritizing balanced lifestyle, social support & professional care.

🌍 Mental health is not just an individual issue — it’s a global health priority. Let’s work together to reduce stigma and build a healthier tomorrow. 💙

🌱 “The Strongest People Are Often the Most Silent”

Every day, in my work, I meet people who look perfectly fine on the outside. They go to office, crack jokes, post happy pictures, attend family dinners.

But deep inside—they are fighting storms no one can see.

👉 The mother who comforts her child while silently battling anxiety.
👉 The corporate leader who inspires hundreds but struggles to sleep at night.
👉 The teenager who smiles in selfies but feels invisible in real life.

Mental health struggles rarely look like what we imagine. They don’t always mean tears, breakdowns, or visible suffering. More often, they look like smiling faces, high achievements, and silent battles fought in the mind.

And that’s why so many people don’t reach out.
Because they feel:
• “Others have it worse.”
• “I should be strong enough.”
• “What will people say?”

💡 Here’s the truth: Asking for help is not weakness. It’s wisdom.
Just as you’d see a doctor for a fever, it’s okay to see one for your thoughts and feelings.

If you’re reading this and silently struggling, please know: you don’t have to go through it alone.
Your pain is real. Your story matters. And healing is possible.

Let’s normalize checking on our loved ones beyond “How are you?”.
Try asking: “How are you, really?”
It may open a door that saves a life.

✨ Remember: Strong people are not the ones who never fall—they are the ones who dare to rise, again and again.

🧠 Psychiatrist’s Perspective: Why “Delulu” Isn’t Always Bad

We’ve all seen it:
✨ “I’ll get front-row tickets and my idol will notice me.”
✨ “That job? Oh, they’re definitely going to call me.”
✨ “The crush is obviously thinking about me right now.”

Internet calls this “delulu” — short for delusional.
But here’s the twist:
In psychiatry, a true delusion is a fixed, false belief that’s resistant to evidence. That’s serious and usually part of a mental illness.
TikTok “delulu” is different — it’s playful daydreaming + hope + confidence.

Why our brain loves being “delulu” sometimes
1. Motivation Booster
Unrealistic optimism can nudge us to take action we might otherwise avoid. (“I can land that client!”)
2. Stress Buffer
Fantasies give temporary relief from daily grind — a mini mental vacation.
3. Self-Confidence Training
Pretending you already have something can make you carry yourself differently… which sometimes attracts the very thing you imagined.

The Healthy “Delulu Rule”
• Harmless delulu: fuels motivation, keeps hope alive, makes you smile.
• Unhealthy delulu: stops you from facing reality or causes harm to yourself/others.

💬 So next time you’re a little “delulu,” remember — it’s only dangerous if it replaces reality. If it inspires you? That’s just creative optimism in action.

👵🙏 A moment that humbles and inspires.

Today, one of my senior patients visited Aatmann Clinic—not for treatment, but to bless me with her kind words and affection.

She had battled her mental health challenges with great courage, and with consistent treatment and family support, she made a remarkable recovery.

Seeing her healthy, hopeful, and grateful reminds me why I chose psychiatry—to restore not just minds, but also lives and relationships.

Moments like these are priceless. They reaffirm that healing is possible at any age, and compassion and science can work hand in hand.

To all caregivers, patients, and fellow mental health professionals—let’s keep the hope alive.

🧠 Can AI Replace a Therapist?
A question I’m often asked — especially in today’s rapidly evolving digital world.

As a psychiatrist at Aatmann Clinic, Hisar, I see AI as a valuable tool, not a replacement.

Yes, AI can:
✅ Offer 24x7 support via chatbots
✅ Monitor mental health trends
✅ Deliver structured, evidence-based modules (like CBT)
✅ Improve access for those in remote areas or hesitant to seek therapy

But it still can’t replace the human experience of therapy:
❌ True empathy
❌ Therapeutic alliance and trust
❌ Contextual judgment and cultural sensitivity
❌ Deep emotional attunement

Mental health healing is not transactional. It’s relational.

AI can support us — but it can’t sit with a grieving parent, listen to silence without judgment, or offer warmth in a moment of despair.

At Aatmann Clinic, we embrace tech innovations while staying rooted in compassionate, human-centered care.

“You were not born to just ‘get things done’ — you were born to live.”

Somewhere along the way, productivity became a measure of self-worth.

We celebrate the sleepless nights, skipping meals, and ‘always being available’ like they’re medals of honor.
But behind that busy calendar often hides:
• A tired mind
• A neglected body
• And a silent cry for rest

As a psychiatrist, I’ve seen a surge in burnout, anxiety, and emotional numbness — not in people who are failing, but in those who are constantly trying to do more.

Let me say this clearly:
✅ Rest is not laziness.
✅ You don’t need to earn your downtime.
✅ Being constantly productive is not sustainable — it’s self-destructive.

We need to replace:
❌ “What’s next?”
with
✅ “Am I okay?”

Let’s normalize saying:
🗣️ “I’m not available right now.”
🗣️ “I need a break — not because I’m weak, but because I’m human.”

Your value is not in your output.
Your worth is not your to-do list.

Let’s choose mental health over hustle. Every single time.

🔹 Therapy Isn’t a Last Resort. It’s a First Step Toward Healing.

Many people wait until they’re completely broken before they seek help.

But imagine visiting a doctor only when a fever turns into an ICU admission. That’s what many unknowingly do with their mental health.

Therapy is preventive. It’s empowering.
It teaches you to manage storms before they become cyclones.

🧠💼 Women and Workplace Mental Health: It’s Time We Talked About It 💼🧠

By Dr. Shubham Mehta | Psychiatrist, Aatmann Clinic, Hisar

She’s the first to show up, the last to leave.
She leads teams, meets deadlines, hits targets — and still doubts herself.
Not because she’s not capable.
But because the system wasn’t built for her confidence to thrive.

🔹 70% of working women report experiencing imposter syndrome
🔹 Women are twice as likely to face workplace microaggressions
🔹 Maternity leaves, caregiving duties, and “being too emotional” — are still used to question their commitment
🔹 And burnout? Often hidden behind “she’s managing fine”

Let’s stop applauding her for “doing it all”,
and start asking if she’s okay.

💬 What workplaces must do:

✅ Normalize mental health conversations
✅ Build flexible, inclusive, and supportive policies
✅ Train leadership to lead with empathy
✅ Offer access to therapy and counselling
✅ Move beyond tokenism — listen, reflect, reform

Mental health is not a women’s issue. It’s a workplace issue.

As a psychiatrist at Aatmann Clinic, Hisar, I’ve seen how ignored mental health struggles can silently destroy potential — especially in working women who are expected to stay silent and strong.
