Dietitian Anuradha Providing Healthy Nutrition Guidelines to our clients is our motto.

Cancer is scary and more common than we think.

We have two options.

1. Best to avoid.

2. Treat.

In today's world, we do not know how much avoiding is possible. Even if we care for our health, avoid ultra-processed foods, exercise, consume anti-cancer phytonutrients, anti-inflammatory foods, and anti-oxidants regularly, take a balanced diet, sleep well etc.....

We live in a world that has Air, water, soil, plastic, and every kind of pollution, plus radiation, stress, and chemicals in the name of food and medicines.

So, our second option is to treat.

When we get a chronic disease, we have 3 stages.

1. Denial
2. Treatment
3. Doubt

A 4th one is Google search, which rubbishes everything. I have said this and will say it again, there have been cases where organic lifestyle and Ayurveda have shown results for preliminary cancer stages. However, research shows not in higher-stage cancers. They can be supportive, not exclusive in the treatment.

I am starting this series. Having worked with the oncology department, I can share some insights that may help my readers. My following posts will throw some light on cancers and hope to benefit you.

Thanks.

I have clients who obviously have diet restrictions due to their health conditions. Even they sometimes want to go out, eat with friends & family, and have fun. Especially, when traveling, they need to eat from restaurants and hotels.

Most of the time they complain that they do not get food that suits their health condition. We all know most restaurant food is high in sugar, salt, & fat.

I have tried to speak with big brands and local restaurant chains, even stand-alone ones. I asked them if they could provide a healthy version of the same dishes.

No one is ready to listen. Clear no is the answer.

So they are happy to lure you by taste and offers but don't care whether your sugar levels spike up, blood pressure shoots and your body collapses.

Now don't tell me there is one life, let us enjoy taste one day when we go out.

1. Nowadays eating out has become very common, it's not occasional anymore.

2. Outside food can be ordered easily through apps too, which makes it even more norm.

3. The day a person gets a paralytic attack, brain stroke, kidney failure, ascites, heart attack, cancer, etc. then they forget the dialogue about ek din to marna hi hai.

So, do not believe in big talk, live in reality. Make food from scratch at home and eat. Occasional outings are fine, if one doesn't have medical issues. If you have, then no medicine will be able to save you unless you follow a clinically prescribed diet.

For traveling, maybe I can help you during counseling sessions. DM for that.

Diet is usually a scary term. We already have too much to worry about. Now at least we want our food to be according to us.

Convenient
Practical
We will be thankful if it can help our health too.

Sure, Done!

Hello, I am delighted to share that our first book has been published and is available on Amazon.

This book is written in simple language for Indian parents with live examples (real names not mentioned to secure identity).

It will guide parents through day-to-day child nutrition challenges. It will also help parents who are facing health-related challenges with their little ones.

It will soon be available in Hindi too.

What is the good thing about big issues?

They do not come suddenly. They brew slowly and one day they blow up.

We react to blow up but do not notice when these things brew.

I visited a friend's group. One of the friends was discussing how her husband had a heart attack at a very early age and how miserable she felt at that time.

Her entire family is obese including the child. Among my friends, she is the one having the highest number of processed foods as a family. Their home-cooked food also consists of high fat, salt and sugar. They still continue to do so.

When anyone tries to educate them (not me, I do not do this for free), they say they have hormonal and genetic problems, and dietitians and physical training cannot help them.

We once had an acquaintance who was consistently having regular headaches and was self-treating for 5 years with Saridon (that's why I hate medicine advertisements). When they finally met a doctor, they ended up with major surgery which took place to remove a huge brain tumor.

The tumor didn't become huge in one day, she allowed it to become large in 5 years period.

Your waist belt doesn't break suddenly, it becomes weak and is still overused first. Before it broke and caused embarrassment in public it had given warnings for change.

So, a stitch in time saves nine.
Where you need a dietitian, you need a dietitian, where you need a Doctor you need a Doctor. When you need shopping you need it. Avoiding that expense now will bring huge problems in the future with larger expenses.

We all are busy with our jobs. If we are working from home we are multi-tasking. If we are going to the office, we are traveling with traffic.

One parent told me my child can't have breakfast because both of us parents work, need to leave for the office in the morning, and the child takes hours to finish a meal. But they are worried about his nutrition.

One parent told me my child cannot have breakfast on Sunday before 11 am. The cook arrives after 10 am on Sunday. Mother works the entire week so can't cook.

Do you think I am blaming parents in this post, and asking them to prefer parenting over their hard-earned careers? Absolutely not!

We just need to inculcate the right habits at the right time. Then parenting and your career will go hand in hand, with none of them suffering. Also, you will have a guilt-free life.

One parent told me I do everything, but at the end of the day, I feel like beating my (1.5-year-old) child up. I told her, to send the child to a nice crèche, have a friend's day out at CCD or something, and let me know.

You are not a bad parent, you just need help with your child's food habits.

Let me know if you need help in this regard.

Parenting is tough. Kids' nutrition is very important, but we find it challenging as Google has a lot of confusing information.

Also, Kids do not follow diet plans.

It is difficult for parents to understand technical books on nutrition. But if a child is facing nutrition challenges related to behavior/ health challenges, then what?

It is also difficult to follow a book written for foreign kids.

We have come up with a Handbook for Indian Parents, with local challenges, and live cases discussed. It gives basic guidelines which can be included in day-to-day life.
