A School Kit Brings Joy to Little Hafsa
Meet Hafsa, a bright 6-year-old girl who studies in Class 1. Hafsa lives with a locomotor disability in her right leg, which makes walking difficult. Despite this challenge, she loves going to school and learning new things.
Hafsa’s father works as a daily wage laborer, and her mother is a homemaker. The family struggles to meet basic needs while caring for Hafsa and her two younger siblings.
Recently, Hafsa received a school kit from Equip India. The joy on her face was beyond words—she immediately put on her new school bag with pride and excitement!
Hafsa’s parents were deeply moved. Her father shared with tears in his eyes:
“Nobody has ever given us such help before. This is the first time we are receiving a school kit with all the materials. Thank you, Equip India, for helping my daughter.”
This simple gesture has given Hafsa the tools she needs to continue her education with confidence and hope.
Together, we can make many more children like Hafsa smile!

Back to School Program
We were able to distribute school kits to 130 children—each kit included a school bag and essential supplies. This small effort brought immense joy to the children and their families.
The distribution took place with the involvement of local panchayat leaders, village heads, community members, and generous donors who supported the program.
One of the village leaders shared,
“We were supposed to do this for our community, but you stepped in and did it. We are inspired by your work.”
Mohamed, a parent, said,
“I don’t have a job and couldn’t afford a school bag. But you gave my daughter a school kit—it was essential for her.”
This initiative brought smiles to many faces—but our journey isn’t over yet. Our target is 550 children, and we’ve reached 130 so far.
Your support can make a big difference.
Help us reach more children.
Your donation can light up a future.

Help Jaitumbhi & her children to live in a safe home
Jaitumbhi, a 38-year-old mother in Bogenagarkoppa village, is living with a severe leg disability and raising two young children alone. Abandoned by her husband and left with nothing, she’s been struggling to survive — often going without food, facing threats, and sleeping outside with her children.
Their current home - a collapsing mud structure - is unsafe and unlivable. There’s no proper door, no kitchen, no toilet. At night, they sleep outside, exposed to cold, insects, and fear.
We’re raising funds to rebuild her house — to give her and children a safe shelter, a place to cook, sleep, and live with dignity.
Amount needed Rs. 1, 25,000/-. Your contribution will surely make a difference.
Please help us rebuild hope. Donate today.

From Hesitation to Empowerment!
Seven incredible women have graduated from Equip India’s Vocational Training Program, and are now ready to earn a living and support their families with dignity.

One of them is Akkamadevi, a 35-year-old from a remote village who lives with post-polio paralysis. She never had the chance to attend school, but she learned to stitch by hand from her mother.
Initially unsure about joining the program, today she’s confidently using a motorized sewing machine and working as a tailor. “I want to earn and support my aged parents. I’m so thankful for this opportunity,” she says.

Bibijan is a 33-year-old woman who had to drop out of school after 4th grade due to financial difficulties in her family. Her parents couldn’t afford to support her education, so they stopped sending her to school and instead sent her to work in the fields to help make ends meet.
At the age of 17, Bibijan got married. She now has three children. Her eldest daughter, Dhavalbi, is 14 years old and has Cerebral Palsy. Her son is in 3rd grade, and her youngest daughter is in 1st grade. Even after marriage, financial struggles continued. Her husband works as a daily wage laborer in other people's fields, but the income is not enough to support the family.
Bibijan cannot go out to work because her daughter Dhavalbi needs constant care and support. Seeing the family's situation, OEI staff living in the same village encouraged Bibijan to join a Vocational Training program as a day scholar. This way, she could learn new skills and earn a living from home.
However, traveling over 19 miles every day was a big challenge for her, especially with Dhavalbi’s needs. Determined to make it work, Bibijan arranged for Dhavalbi to stay with her sister, and to ease the burden on her sister, she brings her sister’s son along with her to class each day.
Now, Bibijan is close to completing her training. She dreams of starting her own business and becoming a home-based artisan. With a smile, she says, “A big thanks to Equip India for bringing me here.”

Little Rachana's Brave Steps to Healing
Rachana is a cheerful 4-year-old girl who lives in a small village with her parents and two siblings. Her father works as a daily wage laborer, but his earnings are not enough to support the family. Her mother stays home to care for the children and manage the household.

Rachana has been diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), Torticollis, and Global Developmental Delay. Because of this, she is unable to walk or move on her own and needs constant care.

Her parents knew she needed surgery, but the cost was too high for them to afford. In search of help, they reached out to Equip India. After evaluating her condition, the medical team at Equip India recommended surgery to correct the Torticollis affecting her neck.

Following their advice, her parents took her to a private clinic in Hubli, where she underwent surgery on January, 2025.

After the surgery, Rachana returned to Equip India for rehabilitation. The team supported her with patience and care, guiding her through special exercises to improve her neck movement. Her mother was also trained so she could help Rachana continue the therapy at home.

To make the exercises fun, Rachana was asked to comb her hair while looking in a mirror. This playful activity helped her correct her posture using visual feedback. Day by day, she started to show improvement.

Now, Rachana is doing much better. Her neck is straighter, her movements have improved, and her smile shines brighter. With the support of Equip India, her family’s love, and her own determination, Rachana is moving forward on the path to a healthier and happier life

Gopal’s Inspiring Journey of Determination!
Gopal (20) lives with his parents in the city, where they work as watchmen in an apartment complex. The family was forced to leave their village home, which was on the verge of collapse, and now they stay in a small room provided by the apartment management. Gopal’s elder brothers are married and live separately. Despite the family’s struggles, Gopal contributes by watering newly constructed buildings, earning a small amount to support his parents.
Born with a deformity in his hands, everyday tasks have always been a challenge for Gopal. Yet, he remains full of energy and joy. In 2012, Equip India came into his life, offering him the support he needed. As a child, writing was difficult for Gopal, so Equip India provided him with a study table and school materials, making his learning journey easier.
Today, with Equip India’s continued support, Gopal has enrolled in a basic computer course. He is determined to complete his course, finish his academics, and secure a stable job to give his parents the life they deserve.
“Thanks to Equip India for helping me during difficult times,” says Gopal with gratitude.

Meet 19-year-old Shaheen, who overcame challenges due to a locomotor disability. Despite scoring 64% in 10th grade, her education was halted by her father, a farmer.
During a village assessment, Equip India staff found Shaheen and suggested vocational training in tailoring and embroidery. Initially, her father had doubts, but consistent follow-ups and discussions about the program's benefits convinced him.
Excited about the opportunity, Shaheen joined the Vocational Training VT), bringing back joy to her life. Staying at the residential care, she participated in various activities and cultural programs, rebuilding her confidence. Shaheen expressed her newfound hope, stating, "I want to complete the training, stand on my feet, and support my parents."
Upon completing the training, Shaheen received a sewing machine as a graduation gift. Now, she works as a home artisan, taking orders and earning a decent income to support her family. Equip India’s intervention transformed Shaheen's life, proving that with determination and support, individuals like her can overcome challenges and build a brighter future.

From Homebound to Home Artisan: Surekha's Journey of Perseverance and Independence"

Surekha, a 23-year-old with a locomotor disability, had finished her 10th grade but spent the next four years at home. She didn't do household work or pursue any further skills. Her parents, both agricultural workers, were very protective of her, especially her mother, Drakshani, who took care of all her needs and never let her step out or learn household chores. Although deeply worried about Surekha’s future, Drakshani was hesitant to let her daughter venture beyond the safety of their home.

Equip India staff visited her home many times, encouraging her parents to send her for Vocational Training. At first, they refused, but after seeing the training center, her mother finally agreed.
Surekha joined Equip India's Vocational Training program and began living in their residential care facility. There, she learned essential life skills and gained independence, gradually developing the confidence to do things on her own. She successfully completed her training and was provided with a sewing machine to start her own work.

Today, she is a proud home artisan, earning her own money!
"When I got paid for my work, I had never seen so much money in my hands before. It made me want to work and earn more!" - Surekha

Her parents are overjoyed! "My daughter is now earning and even helping with household work," says her father, Fakirappa.

Her mother, Drakshani, shares, "I will never forget what Equip India has done for my daughter. God sent them to our home!"

Surekha’s story proves that with the right support, anything is possible!
