Eligibility for State FSSAI License
The State FSSAI License can be taken by the following food business operators:
Meat Processing Units
Proprietary Foods
Slaughtering Units
Restaurants
Hotels
Food Processing Units including
retailers and repackers
Dairy Units, including Milk Chilling Units that are equipped to handle and process. Vegetable Oil Processing Units and the Units that produce vegetable oil through the process of solvent extraction and refineries, including Oil Expeller Unit. Eligibility for Central FSSAI License
The Central FSSAI License can be taken by the following food business operators:
Dairy Units, including Milk Chilling Units that are equipped to handle and process. Slaughtering Units
Proprietary Foods

Documents required for Basic FSSAI – Food License:
Latest Passport sized photograph of the applicant
Identification proof (voter ID card or Aadhaar Card)
PAN Card
Address Proof- Telephone or Mobile Bill/ Electricity or Gas Bill)
Copy of Property papers (if owned)
Copy of Rent Agreement and NOC letter from the Landlord (if rented)

Process for Registration
For licensing it is mandatory that the food business operator has an active email ID and a telephonic phone number. The business name of the respective food business operator must be spelled out correctly in the application form as the same name will appear on the license. After the successful submission of the application, a unique reference ID is issued that is to be used in all the further applications. The next and the last step is payment of the prescribed fees. This is to be done by taking out a print of the acknowledgment and the online application and make a demand draft of the specified amount. The required documents for obtaining State FSSAI license are as follows:
Form-B duly completed and signed by the Proprietor. Proof of possession of premises. Partnership affidavit of Proprietorship. Contact details of the Directors. List and details of the types of equipment and machinery. Proprietor’s photo ID and Address Proof issued by the Government of India. In case of a company, the Directors photo ID and address proof. List of food category that has to be manufactured. Authority letter with name and address of the responsible person. NOC and Copy of License from the manufacturer. Food Safety Management System Plan or Certificate. Procedure for Central License Application
If according to the eligibility criteria, one is directed to get a Central FSSAI License then they must fill out the application form according to the guidelines as prescribed by FSSAI. It must be taken care that every data provided must be correct, appropriate and authentic. Remeber that the generic names must be mentioned for the products and not the brand names. All the products as mentioned in the license must be approved as per the FSS Act, 2006. At last, you will be asked for how many years you want to apply. You have to choose the appropriate period of time for which you wish to take the license. Post-filing the form, the prescribed fees have to pay either through an online portal or by submitting the demand draft at the FSSAI state office. Suspension and Cancellation of Food License
Under the below-mentioned circumstances, the food license can either be canceled or suspended:
Food poisoning outbreaks that are associated with the spread of the disease. Serious food complaints in cases where the consumer’s safety is affected. Food Business Operator’s non-compliant premises. Serious violations of the FSSAI rules and compliances. A violation in case there is a history of non-compliance of FSSAI safety rules and requirements. Non- compliance with an improvement or other legal notice without reasonable excuse. Interrupting an officer. Validity and Renewal of Food License
Depending on the type of FSSAI License applied for, the license is valid for a period ranging from 1-5 years. The Renewal of the food license must be applied from either Form A or Form B before 30 days of the expiry of the existing registration. Any FSSAI Renewal Application filed beyond the expiry date is subjected to a late fee of Rs.100 for each delayed day. In case of expiry of the food license, the Food Business Operator should mandatorily terminate all the business activities at the premises. Transfer of the issued FSSAI License
In case of the death of the issued FSSAI – Food License holder, it is eligible for transfer to the legal representative or any other family member of the deceased. It is mandatory for the next holder to apply to the concerned authority to transfer the license in his name. After the successful verification, the application can either be approved or refused by the authority only after giving the applicant an opportunity to be heard.
