In my endeavour to turn the head into a more complete camera (by adding Vmount, cage, grip… you name it) I wanted to get full camera control via the RCU-4 cable remote. The idea is that I can see remaining media space and change settings without having to run back to the body.
Now… as long as the remote is tethered to the body, all works fine, but if the remote is connected to the heads ethernet, it doesn't connect (see photos). Is the ethernet of the head not communication via the fibre link? Has this to do with the fact that I have a ST single link mod instead of the SMTP version? If not, why is there an ethernet back on the head at all? The Arri documentation is not conclusive or even mentions the ethernet on the head.

Featuring a diverse range of learning zones, including How to Build a Camera, Lighting Techniques, ALEXA 35 Filter Comparison, Electronic Control Systems including the Hi-5 ecosystem, and ARTEMIS, we welcomed over 120 visitors from North of England.
With our technical demonstrators, Tom Murphy and Marta Vitiello, Craig Gambell from ARRI Academy, Mark Dollery, and Max Hartwig-Green on hand, visitors were empowered to get hands-on and expert advice from the team.

"The new ARRI ALEXA 35 camera has three features that caught my curiosity: an s16mm recording mode that crops the sensor to use the size of a frame of that format, its new technology for adding textures to the image, and its new dynamic range.
For my in-camera process, I used the S16 Zeiss Super Speed lenses with the S16 mode of the ALEXA 35 and a Soft Nostalgic texture. Once the filming and editing were completed, we moved on to the color correction of the video in DaVinci Resolve, applying a film emulsion and adding more film grain texture.
It was projected in a 4K cinema after a 4K blow-up. The attendees of the screening—mostly cinematographers—thought the images were filmed on S16mm.
This procedure is an alternative to shooting on film, where I make no compromises and will use it again when I have a project where I cannot afford any margin of error from technical issues in the lab, light leaks, scratches, etc.

DP Silviu Stavila shares insights into capturing "Three Kilometres to the End of the World" ("Trei kilometri până la capătul lumii") with ALEXA Mini LF: "The shooting took place in the Danube Delta, a remote location, in hot weather and high humidity, far away from any rental house or any technical support. We chose ALEXA Mini LF for its reliability, versatility, and compact size. The maximum aperture of the lenses and ALEXA’s highest dynamic range were extremely helpful for interior shots."
