Oxygen – The Enemy of Cancer
Prof. Otto Warburg, who received 2 Nobel Prizes (1931 & 1944) for his pioneering work on cellular energetics, revealed a groundbreaking truth:
The prime cause of cancer is the replacement of oxygen in healthy cells by sugar fermentation.
Cancer cells thrive in an anaerobic (oxygen-less) environment, feeding on sugar and flourishing when circulation and oxygenation are poor.
This gives us vital clues: reducing excess sugar, limiting red meat and saturated fats (which slow gut aerobic activity), and supporting oxygen-rich cellular health are powerful preventive measures.
3 Ayurvedic Ways to Enhance Cellular Oxygen:
1️⃣ Pranayama & Deep Breathing – Practices like Anulom-Vilom and Bhastrika expand lung capacity, improve oxygen uptake, and enhance mitochondrial efficiency, directly countering anaerobic conditions.
2️⃣ Exercise -In Ayurveda, Vyayama (regular physical activity) is said to kindle Agni (digestive fire), improve circulation, and open the channels (srotas) for free flow of prana. This enhanced flow of life-force supports oxygenation, strength, and help support cancer prevention.
3️⃣ Circulation-Boosting & Cardiotonic Herbs –Ayurveda describes lot of herbs with Hridya (cardio-tonic) and Rasayana (rejuvenative) actions, nourishing the heart and blood channels (Rasa-Rakta dhatus). By clearing blockages and balancing doshas, they enhance prana vaha srotas flow, ensuring deeper oxygen delivery.
Ayurveda reminds us that ''where oxygen and prana flow freely, disease cannot thrive''.
Supporting oxygenation through lifestyle, diet, herbs and even Oxygen therapy is a profound way to prevent and manage imbalances like Cancer.
