After decades of treating cancer, one truth stands out unmistakably: it is not the disease alone that claims lives!! … it is the delay in diagnosis and the delay in treatment.

Every single day, I meet patients who arrive at advanced stages, when a simple step taken earlier could have changed the outcome. This is the tragedy we can prevent.

As India approaches 2026, with cancer numbers rising faster than ever, early awareness, regular screenings, and timely medical attention are not just advisable — they are life-saving.

Cancer is most curable when caught early. The power to save lives lies in acting on time.
The truth is simple:
✅ Many cancers are preventable
✅ Most are treatable when detected early
✅ Regular screening saves lives

Quitting to***co, staying consistent with health screenings, considering HPV vaccination, and recognising early warning signs are small steps with a lasting impact.

👉 Swipe through to understand the current cancer reality in India and what you can do today.
💙 Save this post and share it with your family and friends — the right information at the right time can truly save a life.

Protect. Prevent. Prevail.
Early detection saves lives.

It was a great pleasure to organise Apollo Cancer Centres’ prostate cancer awareness programme, “ Tame the Fire !”, in Hyderabad on 3/12/25

Through expert discussions, survivor stories, and a symbolic candlelight ceremony, we reinforced a vital message:

Prostate cancer is a silent fire—but with early detection and timely treatment, it can be controlled and cured.

Grateful to Chief Guest Sri Vikram Singh Mann , my fellow consultants, and our courageous patients for inspiring every attendee with their strength and hope.

Our commitment remains unwavering: to create awareness, encourage screening, and help men prioritise their health. 💙

— along with real patient experiences on screening and early diagnosis.

We are honoured to welcome Chief Guest Sri Vikram Singh Mann, Director General, Telangana Fire, Disaster Response, Emergency & Civil Defence Department, who will lead the symbolic Candle Lighting Ceremony and address the gathering.

In my recent interview with MedPlus OneTV (aired Nov 27, 2025), we addressed a startling reality: Cancer is rapidly overtaking heart disease and infections as a leading cause of death in India, with over 15 lakh new cases annually.

Why is this happening? While environmental factors are often blamed, they contribute only 2-3%. The real drivers are closer to home:

Westernization: A shift towards processed, non-vegetarian diets and a decline in physical activity.

The To***co Epidemic: Smoking and chewing to***co (Gutka/Pan Masala) alone contribute to 33% of all cancer cases in India.

The Economic Paradox: We are in a situation where the revenue generated from to***co sales is far less than the astronomical cost the country spends treating to***co-related diseases. If we could ban to***co, we could prevent nearly 5 lakh cancer cases every year.

Tame the fire!

Prostate cancer is a silent fire, slow, unnoticed, and often ignored… until it becomes too big to control.

But here is the truth:
When detected early, this fire can be tamed easily. Prostate cancer, in its early stages, is one of the most treatable cancers in men.

Yet many men hesitate to get screened. They wait for symptoms.
But prostate cancer often shows no symptoms in the beginning.

So today, I urge every man above 50 and earlier if you have a family history to take charge.
A simple PSA blood test and a routine check-up like Ultrasound abdomen can help you tame this fire long before it grows.

Celebrities like Sonali Bendre and Yuvraj Singh are inspirations for beating cancer. But when they credit their recovery to alternative methods like naturopathy or specific diets, it can send a confusing message to millions.

In my recent interview with News9, I clarified that while a healthy lifestyle supports recovery, it is modern medicine (Surgery, Chemo, Radiation) that cures cancer.

Avoiding proven treatments in favor of unverified natural remedies can lead to advanced stages of the disease, where cure becomes difficult. Please, always consult an oncologist for cancer care. Use lifestyle changes to support your treatment, not replace it.

How do we beat cancer? It is the most common question I face as an oncologist.

In my recent exclusive interview with MedPlus OneTV, aired on November 24th, 2025, we delved deep into the modern roadmap for conquering this disease.

We discussed:
- The critical role of Early Detection.
- How Radiation Oncology (IMRT, Proton Therapy) has changed the game.
- The psychological battle: Why the patient's spirit is as important as the medicine.

At Apollo Cancer Institute, Hyderabad, we are committed to combining world-class technology with compassionate care to ensure that "Survivor" becomes the most common word in oncology.

26/11/2025

Why is IMRT (Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy) a game-changer for cancer patients?
Because it allows us to shape the radiation beam to match the tumor perfectly, whether it's round, flat, or irregular.

The Result:
- Maximum impact on the Cancer.
- Minimum damage to healthy organs.
- Faster recovery with fewer side effects.

As I explain in this video, innovation like this allows us to treat even the most complex cases with confidence.

Did you know that a camera flash can help detect Eye Cancer (Retinoblastoma) in children?

In this video, I explain a critical warning sign: The White Reflex. Normally, when you take a photo with a flash, the eyes appear red. However, if you see a white spot or something resembling a "white flower" in the center of the pupil, it could be a sign of a tumor.

The Good News: It is easy for parents to identify at home. It is highly curable (95-99%) if detected early. In early stages, we can cure it without removing the eye.

Please watch this video carefully. If you notice a white glow, a squint, or unusual redness in your child's eye, consult an oncologist immediately. Early detection is the key to saving their sight.
