IEEE G***T SB-PES chapter conducted the field trip to L&T Metro in Nagole. The main objective of conducting the field trip is to bring awareness about the working, modeling, construction, and supervision of Metro Railway using the upgraded technology. Growing urbanizations has led to innumerable problems for commuters who are delayed on account of traffic jams. Metro Rail will allow them to bypass these traffic congestion barriers.

The introduction session held in a Stimulator room which is a replication of an actual train monitoring system, which helps in teaching and recruitment of train operators. The monitor in this room consists of different parameters. Further, the display of speed, distance, every movement of the train is recorded. Different modes at which train can be operated, mechanism of door control, announcements are explained in a detailed fashion. Every train operator undergoes a breath analyzer drive to ensure the safety of passengers. A detail explanation of different artificial obstacle sessions was created by the stimulator in the training program.

IEEE G***T SB-PES chapter conducted a talk on Electrical Safety by Dr. Rajeev Kumar on 12th February 2020. The objective is to understand the cause of such accidents and be mindful of the remedial measures to prevent them. Dr. Rajeev Kumar has graduated from the University of Jamia Milia Islamiya New Delhi and is a certified energy manager. He holds 7 years of experience in various industries like TATA, Godrej, Cincinnati Milacron. He is currently working as an IRSEE officer Sr. divisional Electrical Engineer in South Central Railway, Hyderabad division. His topics of interest include energy efficiency, energy conservation, and electrical fire safety.

The major causes of electrical accidents are:-
● Poor design of electrical equipment.
● Improper wiring connections
● Low-quality power cables
● Faulty installations
● Short circuit due to mechanical damage
● Arching
● Earth faults
As a part of the project, the role of fires in creating a hazardous impact on electrical accidents and simple detection and mitigation measures were discussed in brief.

IEEE G***T SB conducted a session on Electrical Safety Challenges in Distribution Systems. The objective is to understand the cause of accidents and promote measures to reduce them. The first step was to understand where and why the accidents occur, and who are the victims.

Some ideas have been put forward by Project D-FEAT initiation by IEEE. IEEE PES/PLES/IAS Chair Dr. P. V. Rajagopal mentioned the efforts and interest of the faculty to conduct the session by Mr. Sreekumar Nhalur. He thanked Principal Dr. J. Praveen, Prof. Vijayarama Raju for taking the initiative and also appreciated Mr. Sreekumar Nhalur for taking the time and making the event successful. Dr. Rajagopal has graduated from Warangal Technological University, now called the NIT Warangal, where he was first inspired to initiate IEEE Student Body.

Mr. Sreekumar Nhalur has been working in the power sector in the areas of policy analysis and Information Technology applications since 1984. After 14 years of work in the industry (L&T and CMC Limited), in 2000 he joined Prayas, a voluntary organization based in Pune, India, and is currently a Member- Prayas (Energy Group). Sreekumar received his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT - Bombay in 1984 and a Master’s degree in Power Systems Engineering from IIT- Kharagpur. He is a senior member of IEEE and is associated with the electricity safety initiative of IEEE Hyderabad.

IEEE G***T SB-PES chapter conducted the field trip INCOIS on 9 March 2019. The main objective of conducting the field trip is to bring awareness about the work done in INCOIS. The Organisation deals with tsunamis and other ocean calamities.A detailed description about the dependence of temperature on PFZ (Potential Fishing Zone) and areas with high fish densities are notified by the centre.
The introduction session held in a seminar hall, wherein the students were briefed about the whole technicality behind INCOIS. A video on GOOD GREEN DEEDS gave a true inspiration to Young India about the need to be environment friendly.
The PEZ ( Potential Fishing Zone) is a laboratory that analyzes the fish density and potential fishing zones. It helps the fishermen to get a good culture and to avoid life loss. The surveillance room is used to monitor real time data sent by the satellites. They predict bulletins about a natural calamity in the near future.

The satellite in the observatory room collects the data every 30 minutes to analysis of fresh data every time. The research about what causes everything to happen is done in this room. For every laboratory sessions, the students were divided into two groups and briefed. The field trip turned out to be informative and interactive as well.
