Pournami(Fullmoon) is known as one of the most auspicious day in the spiritual calendar, occuring every month. The day when Moon reaches its full brightness attaining completeness, illuminating the earth and dispelling darkness. Even scientific studies have today shown how a Fullmoon can significantly effect each and every living being on this earth.
Our beloved Guru Navajyothi Sree Karunakara Guru, has enlightened this whole universe the benefits of observing this one vratham(fasting) on Pournami(Fullmoon) can encompass us all the benefits of all other vratham(fasting) combined, through this Guruvani.

The Benefits of Pournami Prayer
The effect of Full moon prayer is supreme, beyond comparison. It is on Full moon that one can realize the pure intentions of many lives and work to fulfill them. Full moon vratam accomplishes the benefits of all other vratams together. By observing all the qualities of this vratam, one can become a guru. It is also on Full moon (Pournami) that a guru attains liberation. This is the spiritual aspect.
Pournami is also beneficial for attaining material perfection. The absence of even a trace of darkness is the specialty of Full moon. On one side, there is joy and coolness; on the other, there is the quality of being able to grasp anything. In this warmth, the seeds become more beneficial. That benefit has the ability to generate and sustain.
After accumulating punya (merit) through many lives, when one attains samadhi (enlightenment), that samadhi is complete. The atmosphere is calm on Full moon. There is no gap between sunrise and sunset. When one rises, the other sets. When one sets, the other rises. The qualities mentioned above also enter wherever the rays of the sun and moon fall.
Full moon vratam helps a guru attain perfection as Ishvara (God) and The supreme being . Whether or not one contemplates the benefits of Pournami prayer, one should always pray:
"May our prayers be beneficial to all living beings, destroying all our sins and distinguishing between good and evil, contributing to world peace.
The planets will attain a state of equilibrium, and through that, a special power that benefits the world will be created.
Full moon is the most auspicious day for creation and dissolution. Let the creation be beneficial to the whole world.
Just as we can visualize this state in a mango flower, it also works in humans. Although the spiritual and material are complementary, what we give priority to will grow.
A mother who gives birth to a child on Full moon should be conscious. She should know that this is for the good of the world and that it is ordained by God."
