What is an AED?
I’m sure your might have seen these red boxes marked at the airport and railway stations. So what is an AED?

AED stands for Automated External Defibrillator. It is a machine that helps detect life threatening arrhythmias in a patient who has had a sudden “drop attack” or sudden fall and loss of consciousness. In the event of detecting a shockable rhythm the machine is capable of delivering a life saving shock to the patient as well.

It is real simple to use with voice prompts to guide you. You can check out the many available YouTube videos to learn more on how it works. Know how to use an AED and educate others around you. It might just save a life! So the next time you witness someone having a fall & loss of consciousness, look for an AED nearby and use it appropriately!

Remember machines are only as smart as the people using them! So learn all about an AED, you never know when it may help save a life!!
