Baby Gundala Chethan Raj, an 8-month-old infant, was admitted in a critical condition with severe respiratory distress caused by severe bronchopneumonia, complicated by ARDS (Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome) and multiple organ involvement.
Under the expert supervision of Dr. Kanchan S. Channawar, MBBS, DNB Pediatrics, PGPN (Boston), IDPCCM (Pediatric), Critical Care Medicine, Consultant Pediatrician & Pediatric Intensivist, the child was immediately shifted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) for advanced management.
With timely ventilatory support, intensive monitoring, blood component therapy, and coordinated multidisciplinary critical care, the infant showed gradual and steady recovery. He was successfully weaned off respiratory support, stabilized clinically, and discharged in a recovered condition.
The family expressed heartfelt gratitude for the dedicated, round-the-clock care and expertise that played a vital role in saving their child’s life.
This case highlights the importance of early intervention, advanced pediatric critical care, and expert intensive monitoring in managing life-threatening respiratory illnesses in infants.
