Many patients get confused between laparoscopy and hysteroscopy, but both procedures serve different purposes in gynecology.

Laparoscopy is a minimally invasive surgery where a camera is inserted through small cuts in the abdomen to examine or treat organs like the uterus, ovaries, and fallopian tubes.

Hysteroscopy, on the other hand, involves inserting a thin camera through the va**na and cervix to directly view the inside of the uterus, helping diagnose and treat issues like polyps, fibroids, or abnormal bleeding.

Both procedures help in accurate diagnosis and treatment with faster recovery and minimal discomfort.

Honored to be a Co-Author | Clinical Practice Guidelines for Menopause 2026 ✨

I am delighted to share that I am a co-author on the newly published Clinical Practice Guidelines for Menopause 2026in the Journal of Midlife Health.

As March marks Endometriosis Awareness Month, one of the key highlights from the guidelines focuses on the long-term impact of endometriosis on menopause.

🔎 What the evidence shows (Grade B):

Women with endometriosis have:

▪️ A 1–3 year earlier onset of menopause
▪️ A 7-fold increase in surgical menopause
▪️ Surgical menopause occurring ~19 months earlier
▪️ Natural menopause occurring ~5 months earlier

The underlying mechanisms include:
* Repeated ovarian inflammation
* Surgical interventions (e.g., endometrioma excision)
* Progressive reduction in ovarian reserve

Clinical Implications
These findings emphasize the importance of:
✔ Early diagnosis
✔ Fertility planning discussions
✔ Ovarian reserve preservation strategies
✔ Individualized long-term follow-up

Endometriosis is not just a disease of reproductive age — it has lifelong implications.

Key Differences Between Laparoscopy & Hysteroscopy in Gynecology:

✅Purpose
Laparoscopy examines organs outside the uterus (ovaries, tubes, pelvis).
Hysteroscopy looks inside the uterus.

✅Incision
Laparoscopy requires small abdominal cuts.
Hysteroscopy is usually incision-free (through va**na).

✅Conditions Treated
Laparoscopy: endometriosis, cysts, fibroids, infertility, adhesions.
Hysteroscopy: polyps, uterine fibroids, septum, abnormal bleeding.

✅Anesthesia
Laparoscopy typically needs general anesthesia.
Hysteroscopy may be done with minimal or short anesthesia.

✅Recovery
Laparoscopy recovery takes a few days.
Hysteroscopy recovery is usually faster, often same day.

We are proud to be among the pioneers in India to implement AI-powered fibroid mapping in gynecologic ultrasound.

With advanced AI technology, fibroids are accurately detected, measured, and precisely mapped. The number, size, and exact location of fibroids are documented with high precision, ensuring a clear and comprehensive assessment.

AI also helps differentiate submucosal, intramural, and subserosal fibroids, enabling gynecologists to make informed decisions regarding medical management, minimally invasive procedures, or surgical treatment—tailored to each patient’s condition.

This innovation enhances diagnostic accuracy, treatment planning, and patient outcomes.
